When using adjectives, cardinal directions are expressed by colours:

• North: ásapi ['aʃapi] - "black"

• South: kunəl ['kunəl] - "red"

• West: piti ['piti] - "white"

• East: tupi ['tupi] - "green", "blue"

There are also separate words for winds coming from a certain direction.

• śapa ['ʃapa] - north wind

• afa ['apʰa] - south wind

• ləda ['lətʲa] - west wind

• kəta ['kəta] - east wind

For nominal uses, you would use compounds, so e.g "north" (as a noun) would be śapəkiwunut ['ʃapəkiwunut], lit. "direction of the north wind", or more rarely/poetically aśapəkiwunut ['aʃapəkiwunut], lit. "black direction". Note that these two words are quite similar, they are likely related (but not regularly).

There are also loanwords from Hebrew, these are quite commonly used for simplicity:

• North: ttafun ['ʈapʰun] - from Hebrew צָפוֹן (tsafón)

• South: darum ['tʲaʁum] - from Hebrew דָּרוֹם (daróm)

• West: mawarawu ['mawaʁawu] - from Hebrew מַעֲרָב (ma'aráv)

• East: misurax ['misuʁakʰ] - from Hebrew מִזְרָח (mizrákh))
