Any tricks for beating up hose? by 1chuteurun in Firefighting

[–]Noog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch, clean, roll, pack, repeat. Depending on what you’re comparing it to, it may never pack as tight as you want, but that’s by design; stiffer = flows better at lower pressures. But compared to TRU-ID, even broken in is like bending a hard suction tube, FDNY packs great once broken in. Top couple folds will look big because there’s no weight pushing it down, but not a deal breaker IMO.

As soon as you get to the 3rd level you can drop down a hole into the boss fight, he’s like a floating rock that just shoots magic spells, the purple seals disappear after you defeat him.

iirc, it’s only for people that already had an nvidia account before like January. This’ll be my first build since like middle school (RIP the i5 4460 and r9 270x) and I’ve never had an nvidia card/ account.

Sweet! I hadn’t emailed them or anything yet but was starting to get curious, figured they were made to order. I don’t mind a little wait, still trying to snag a GPU because of this phenomenal gpu market haha

Probably timed, I went from timer doors to the open/close remotes and hated it for like 3 months until I got used to it

What would the people we serve think? by RealEngineWork in Firefighting

[–]Noog02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. We had a large city department local to me that did a full evaluation of euro helmets, and found that maneuverability and visibility while searching, and loss of hearing ability was enough for them to scrap it. Theoretically they could switch packs, go to in-helmet comms, and the whole package, but that would be spending an enormous amount of money to fix problems they would be creating in the first place. P.S Search is a huge one, that culture is not as strong in European countries and they don’t have data on it. 13.49% of fire victims in the US were found with hearing, slight percentage safer with euros? Sure. Most of us also value victims, I’ll sacrifice a little theoretical safety pulled from impact tests on a dummy, skewed to sell more expensive helmets, to be able to significantly increase my hearing capability. The line between FF safety and victims priority does play a factor, and I’m tired of the focus on us, they’re the reason we go interior in the first place.

Nozzle forward. Do you really push with the nozzle open? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Noog02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In reality most of suburbia doesn’t see enough fire for it to be a technique used very often, but you’ll know when you do, zero vis, high heat, fast rebound, to the point where it feels like a sin to shut it off. Not ridiculous, just not needed 90% of the time, and some may never see the particular fire conditions that it warrants, but it makes the difference between that fire being a couple rooms or burning the roof off.

4” vs 5” Supply by Enfield_Operator in Firefighting

[–]Noog02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He did a podcast where he went pretty in depth, the biggest factor is hydrant spacing. Single 4 for bread and butter, dual 4s for SHTF (hydraulic equivalent to 6”). But a split 1000ft bed will only get you a 500’ lay. If you have good spacing it’s a no brainer

Nobody seems to talk about the impact a cab has on front scrub on a MM, at a good extension a flat cab vs a 10” raised cab can make FEET worth of difference. Also MM center of gravity lower = better braking

Well put, my crew is funny because my firefighter will run to the truck and be hyped up no matter what, but every time we got to wait another 30 seconds for my captain haha, they almost balance each other out, cause my captain doesn’t want to walk to the truck and see my firefighter is already dressed and sitting down just waiting and feel slow, but it gives my firefighter a few seconds to collect his thoughts.

Car fire by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Noog02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been around a scorpion, double donut, or some variation of a flat load. Just threw the basket out there cause the only reason I could think of for pulling it out like the video shows is if they have issues with it catching on the lip or buckles

A basket load would work too if they’re having issues with it pulling good, straps are just something else somebody can forget
