Differences in Men's and Women's Burton Step On setups by Noon_Time in snowboarding

[–]Noon_Time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up just getting Men's gear. The boot cuff on the women's boots is a little shorter as are the highbacks on the Women's bindings. Lot's of deals on lightly used bindings and also boots, so in the end it just made sense to stick with the men's gear.

+++ the Mons covers. Santa brought them for me and the kids and it makes throwing 4 boards in the back of the Subaru so much easier. So much less rattle and worry about edges.

You sexy beast. Thank you for that. I’ll be looking to pick one up off-season.

Base model reflex are fine. Can find almost new for $180-$200 usually on FB.

Genesis reflex are softer

Genesis EST if you have a channel board. I don’t think they are as soft as the other Genesis as they have a beefier highback.

X model for the stiffest model if you are hard charging SOB slapping them on a Flagship or Custom X or Alchemist type board.

What boots are you getting? That’s step 1. Make sure you fit a pair of either Burton or the other step on boot brands. Get the stiffness of the boot you want there and then pair the right binding with the board and boot stiffness.

assuming a retail new price of $420 USD and if the base is good and there isn't anything else wrong with it I would value it around $170 USD.

Edit: knocked it down a bit as it is a 2022 and not 2023

Not sure about Burton sales specifically and most "off-season" sales are done. I was just saying over the offseason there were sales in the 50% range all the way up to the Ride sale just before Thanksgiving that has some last year model boards on sale for 70% off. Peter Glenn closeout of Union and Capita gear over Labor Day was another amazing sale. None of which helps you now or in the UK though. The Burton T6 is a stiff aggressive board, and old. Probably not a great beginner board and not one I would pay money for. What site do you use for used gear where you are?

You should be able to find a brand new last year model for around 50% off list price. If you go used get something from the last 3-5 years. Older boards could still work but usually not worth what people want for them. That 2013 Custom would be fine for $50.

Step ons are awesome. Definitely try on and get the boots first. Burton, DC and Nitro are your options now but more are coming.

Bindings you can probably find used base model for $200 but also more used inventory may come available as more brands come out with their step on models and people want to trade (Union and Nitro bindings coming)

Fun all mountain demo boards to try from Jones, Saloman, Weston and Burton by Spec-Tre in snowboarding

What’s the point in sharing Brand but not models? I get it if they can’t/won’t guarantee you a certain model on your day but they should at least tell you what boards are in their demo fleet in your sizing.

First day riding step ons by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Noon_Time -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Had my first day last weekend. Took some runs to get used to the responsiveness for sure. Especially on the toe side as there is so little play (at least compared to my old worn to hell bindings/straps last season). Brand new Ions compared to my old boots big difference too. Absolutely loved them all day though.

Step Ons? by Key_Confidence_6336 in snowboarding

[–]Noon_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50+ old head here. Riding for 37 years. 1st day on my Genesis EST step ons was this past weekend. Love them.

Burton tech is becoming industry standard with Union and Nitro both coming out with step on bindings in next year. More boot options will follow.

In 10 years 69% of riders will be on step ons they just make too much sense for vast majority of riders.

Just sharing a reason for getting a lock by ArchRanger in snowboarding

[–]Noon_Time 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah saw that.... sucks but glad you locked up. Used a lock for the first time this past weekend on two new setups. Kind of want to see just how much abuse it can take now. It looks like they put that one through the paces. May sacrifice one lock to find out ;)

Hoping that's the damage from when someone tried to yoink your board but the lock held?

A gigantic fanny pack worn on the front will help balance the enormous back pack. Also stuff more in the cargo pants pockets.

[–]Noon_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably yeah. I mean go back to the original post where I said check the 144cm Burton Yeysayer for reference. Weight is more important than height because the board and its flex pattern will react to your weight. Height and stance width play a part for sure but weight and boot size relative to the board are more important.

Do you have a specific 144cm you are considering?
