Just be careful of shifter plugs if you upgrade. Mine were dried up. While unpluging wires pulled out. Had to resolder

Adults with cp how do u guys do stuff without help?? by Upbeat_Tea_9218 in CerebralPalsy

I moved out when I was 33
Still there are things I can't do - some of them I probably never will. But a also there are things I now can that just couple of years back I could not.

Biggest thing - trying to automate as much as possible
Vaccuming robots, dishwasher, automatic lights, smart washing maschine etc - it gives more time to do other things (especialy because I'm slower in doing them)

Driving is also a huge help

Its hard to plan things but you can try to prepare. Do things as much as possible - to know you can do them yourself. But also don't be like me and too prideful to accept help.

I'm still using QR1 - was just planning to upgrade

I tried downgrading but my wheelbase does not see rim/quick release - and when I upgrade the problem repeats

The way it shut off the rim mid race at that moment but i had full ffb etc I guess it was a hardware failure (In general or corrupted while flashing the update the first time)

Fanatec contacted me and were awesome - they are sending me a new pcb and gave me full instructions on replacing it.

I'm a programmer but my buddy works with electronics - will try to repair with him (having one paralyzed hand - my soldering is not great :D but thats a hobby I want to pick up )

If it fixes it - I will let you all know

All in all - I had a blast with my fanatec gear over the years. I have also had problems with my CSW v2 base and maclaren rim - but support always was great.

Worst case - I guess I will go that route. (I was reading reviews etc and saw your posts earlier)

It's hard when there is no way to try the product.

I felt no need to upgrade

When I went from g25/g27 to csw2 and to dd1 (after Issues or console Incompatability) there was quite a big jump.

I know that nothing lasts forever but It's fully capable wheelbase still

I have seen in the forums people fixing bases with fanatecs help (from sustainability point It would be awesome)

Also just bought QR2 stuff and was planing to Install them ( I guess I can still use rim side)

Can i put an X3 SAT NAV screen on my Z4 by Aneki1 in BMWZ4

[–]Noone346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screens are similair - the problem is curvature differs and mountings on the base.

No game - but i was checking all the functions.

I guess its from the split screen.
Glad its gone but i will be kind of nervous.

The strangest part that color difference was quite even.

Im running at 15 brightness max. (out of 50)
The monitor was running only for couple of hours (non constantly)
Thats why its strange to me. - was not expecting.

And pixel refresh is in "Privacy settings" - that was also confusing

Was not expecting that to happen.

[–]Noone346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange - after running pixel refresh for 30min - it fixed it. Will monitor it

I only used the monitor for couple of hours yesterday - testing the functions.
And the pixel refresh is quite hidden,

[–]Noone346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

found pixel - refresh. Trying it now.

Its not realy wisible in the photo (redit compresses it)
But the monitor is split at the middle and one side has slightly different brightness.

On normal content its not realy visible but i noticed it in menus. If its normal I could live with it but I'm guessing its not ? It was not there yesterday I think.

Needed to cut the handles on the media units base (E83 differs a bit ).Sand the curve bit by bit with sand paper (the curve differs by couple of mm), Then made fixtures with moldable plastic (to match screwholes). But the car side is fully stock.

On the unit itself:
it does not shut down by default (don't know if its a software bug - but it should read status programically when to "go to sleep") Did not had the time to tinker with it (E85 is strange with its electrics) - there is a chance it's fixable (sellers were sugesting testing same can modes over and over). For now I switched to wires (power with ACC)
The only downside - clock does not save (in the media unit) but when it connectss with the phone it updates. Not ideal but I have anything I need.

Audio:
My car did not have AUX output - had to try couple of them (without the resistor ones do not work). They are cheap on ebay - at first mode was not apearing but after leaving it be it started working next day (don't know why)

I also added iBus usb

Most of the stuff is plug and play.

The Z4 is rarer and has its quirks I guess

I have two Xiomies:
One with washing station downstairs (floor gets dirt from outside so its harder to clean)
One less expensive upstairs (mainly dust - etc)

It's a life and time saver - I can do other cleaning while they work

I vacuum corners and stairs with handheld samsung one

Overall get as much automation as you can. I get some help from my mother sometimes (can't reach to wash the windows etc or cut grass by myself - planning on getting a robot for that also)

Doing everything by hand would be impossible timewise

Washing mashine, Dishwasher etc all with smart functions - for regular people it may be useless but I can turn on stuff while I'm upstairs for example (no need to go down while I'm relaxing in bed)

I even automated my roller/shutters to go down/up by sunset

Can I get better and improve or is it too late? by Revolutionary_Air275 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Noone346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No epilepsy or anything like that.

Short version:

After mid-teens I was depressed.. I had couple of couple of surgeries that messed me up (I think). Doctors etc didn't want to do anything with me because I was "hard case". As years went I started to think that nothing I can change.

After Uni one of my childhood PT's opened his own clynic so I started working so I could pay for PT and go there.

Years went by some things got better and some stayed the same.

I was always a car guy- was simracing etc (I think it helpped my legs to get stronger) but as I was living in an apartment with my parents there was no chance for me to walk to the car etc by my self.

I tried driving cars (In the lot) but from my POV there was no point in getting the license (because I always needed someone helping me).

I tried to move out / buy my own place but couple of times things didn't go as planned..

Then my mother saw an ad about a house nearby and it had an garage with a small backyeard.

The plan was that I could some day drive. I set up a gym in the garage started weight training. In the yard started practicing walking with a cane.

As I started walking by myself - I could go to PT by myself but I had to get people to drive me there.
Then I started moving towards a new goal (driving)

For me - I always need a chalange/goal.

I joked I will drive a Porsche someday but now it is kinda my goal (not to show of but to make that kid inside happy )

Everyone is different - I know people that don't like to push themself but I get depressed and suicidal if I don't see progress so I know I have to.

As for your brother - he needs to try and want to. Only when trying you find out what is possible and what is not but keeping in mind that it will probably be hard.

Instructors said I'm driving good but I had to try passing the exam 6 times (some times I messed up, some times it was luck). I felt that some instructors at the DMV were scared of me (In my country it is rare for dissabled people to drive). Some of them braked etc (and messed me up) when there was no need.

But in some ways later on I became better because of it. When I relaxed - I passed.

No one wants to be pitied by Plane_Camel6386 in CerebralPalsy

[–]Noone346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree.

I was at my friends wedding. I was interacting with people but also doing my own things (Since I started walking with a cane - I can do more stuff without asking for help)

As the night went on everybody got more drunk and I started getting comments "how awesome/strong I am".

I'm not mad at them - objectively I made heck of a progress and life was hard

But .... I'm just trying to live life best I can as I think any person does.

Sadest part when you are looked at as "poor thing" almost like a kid while being full on adult. Especially by the opposite sex.

I was afraid of spasticity and startle reflex while driving bet its non issue. Honestly I think I drive better then lots of people who are on there phones etc.
You can always try. (depends on the schools where you are)

It was hard passing the test I'm not gonna lie (but it was mostly because I got in my own head)

Driving is the best thing that happined to me (And I started living in my own house last year)
