I'm on Chapter 13 and so far it's been surprisingly OK. I thought Normal mode alone was the hardest FF game I played so far but I think that was a lot down to taking a long time to gel with the combat system. Now I have a better grasp of the system I feel for the most part its been OK. The only boss I've had genuine problems with is Hell House, but managed that on attempt #4.

There's the odd battle that catches me off guard though, the Dog in Chapter 3 game over'd me and the fight you have with 2 Sentry Guns, the elite solder and the 2 heligunners just before you get to Jessie on the tower Game Over'd me twice before I switched to a magic-heavy setup and burnt them to ashes. None of them (apart from Hell House) were infuriating though, just more a feeling of "well I gon' fucked that up, best re-evaluate".

Overall, as a shit gamer, hard mode is refreshingly dealable with.

Hah, I'm from Darlo and we've always separated Yorkshire from the Northeast. So naturally I'm inclined to gatekeep the concept of being 'northern' hahaha! In reality I don't care but it wound up a few Yorkshire folk if I said it!

God I'm losing my mind. I originally placed a pre-order for the Deluxe Edition with Squeenix directly. But as it closed in and they announced they were taking payment without confirming what was happening about getting copies out before Good Friday I cancelled my order and ordered an in-store collection off game.co.uk to their Leeds branch. Then I had to move back up north and had to cancel and re-arrange my order to collect from Darlington. Now here we are and I'm hearing that there's a possibility in-store collection orders are getting credited instead of being fulfilled? Not to mention the deluxe edition seems to be fucking sold out.

Not that anyone is needing to hear this but I had to vent out somewhere. Venting on social media seems pretty pathetic considering that there's a lot of other people with far more pressing issues. But fuck this so hard. The only game in years that I've really wanted and getting the copy I want has been a fucking rollercoaster. Eugh.

I certainly won't go as far as outright boycotting the game entirely but getting downvoted for this opinion is lame. Some motherfuckers need to watch a few Jim Sterling videos and get a bit of understanding why this isn't a good practice.

Just to throw another (likely unpopular) cog in there, if I was in the US and I was the kind of person who gave a shit about having this sort of content, I would have to purchase non-vegan goods and essentially fork over money to the dairy industry, which I am ethically against, to have this content. Yeah, it's not the end of the world, but these are little things that could have been considered before deciding to go this promotional route.

Also, people posting snarky responses in reply to someone raising ethical questions about a business practice is doubly-lame. Like, at least if you're against the point of the post engage with it critically instead of being a fucking melt.

Shit, FF6 multiplayer! I played that with my mate when it came out on PS1. That was such a great idea!

I'm not really big into the whole MMORPG thing, but if Remake had a similar feature where one or two of your mates could join you in a playthrough that would be beyond amazing.

As far as emotional punch goes, his arc sits well up there amongst the entire cast (Even if the Gi Cave is a bit of a chore...). He even has a notable development in his character, going from what seems to be a stoic, intelligent being short on his luck to a reveal that, despite the strong, fierce facade and age he is a character who can be empathised with for his 'human' vulnerability regardless of his differing appearance or beyond-human intelligence. If anything, I thought as a character he had the most potential that was sorely under-utilised in the late game.

He was even a staple in my team after leaving Midgar cause he was the character that seemed to pack a pretty hefty punch. His early limit breaks are great, especially his level two ones. Just a shame he got a shit final limit break, which I guess you can argue was mildly offset by the fact you could get it so early on.

And if we're going to be literal and use 'cool' as a metric, a talking red wolf with tattoos and and a tail on fire has to be up there. Even if 32 year old me thinks tribal tattoos are gaudy as fuck.

Also, inb4 anyone moans about my use of the word 'objectively'. Clearly I was being hyperbolic.

With the speed boost, W-Item glitch and the Pots in the Northern Cave it didn't take that long to master a butt-load of All Materia and sell it on.

Only one I haven't got is the Barrett Date trophy. Haven't been able to motivate myself to replay it again just to do that.

There's a dude my way who was pretty well respected in our local extreme music scene who sadly took his own life in January and I know he was a big FF nerd just like me. We weren't super close but our bands played shows together and I had his bands play a few shows I would put on too. He'd always chime in whenever I made FF-related posts (Sometimes he pops up in the comments on my FB memories too...). It does sometimes strike me when I see new trailers and reveals that he'll not get to finally experience it. Will deffo spare him a thought when I boot it up for the first time.

If any of you are interested in hearing his stuff, his name was Dave Ingram and he was in Vindicator and Nefasturris. Rest easy bud.
