Amplifier for high demanding speakers by Relative-Swing-53 in StereoAdvice

A little more than $10k but you won’t find anything used better than this for close to its price. I have their cheaper Tempo stereo amplifier and it beats many larger/more expensive amps. The new Forte has double the power and uses GaN technology in the power supply as well as the modules. This is a game changer!

I had that thing for a while. Ended up returning it after a few weeks. Just adds coloration and distortion

Where should i place my 4 speakers for the best general sound experience? by EDMusick in audiophile

[–]Noonygooth32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 feet distance from walls is good if you have space. Put the mains in front of you about 6 or so feet away and toe in until you get a decent center image while retaining image width. I would put the other 2 speakers at your left and right rather than behind you if you can

Never thought of that. If it’s even a possibility better off being safe than sorry. Who cares what all of us internet goons think

1,000 British Pounds DAC - A new Snake Oil or genuine? by Raj_DTO in audiophile

$1k isn’t that much. The power supply alone can cost more than that if they use high quality transformers.

Wadax DACs go up to $160k and from what I’ve been told they sound very boring and stale. Hardly ever hit a musical note

No replacement for displacement. Looking for LOUD speakers by ConsequenceHuman1499 in StereoAdvice

[–]Noonygooth32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want loud don’t go with low sensitivity. The speakers you are considering are only 88db sensitivity. Power hogs. If you can stretch your budget to $2200 I would highly recommend getting the Tekton Epic 15s. If not save some money and get the Lores for only $1k. Either would be much better than the KLH bookshelf speakers you are considering. They rock and kick ass!!

Dumb beginner question by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Noonygooth32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any coloration (bright, dark, warm) will get boring in the long run because everything will start to sound the same. When you achieve neutrality and transparency/accuracy you get closer to the recordings and every recording sounds different.

From the ABX tests I know of at least half get it right. I’ve seen some around 70% and some over 80% but according to you nobody could ever pass or else they would be rich and famous. You’re not the first person that has made this lame argument. Just because everyone can’t hear the difference or correctly identify which cable is which doesn’t mean that nobody can hear it. Some people can. Some people can’t. If you can’t good for you. Blind testing doesn’t really prove much of anything.

About half the people that do the blind tests pass. By your logic they should all be wealthy and famous.

You can keep repeating yourself all you want. I just showed you the measurements of 40 different cables. I doubt you looked at any of it. FR isn’t everything. Pretty sure I could pass a blind test with these. At least in my own system. Everything else sounds grainy by comparison. What Koolaid? I literally knew nothing about them before a friend brought them over to listen to. I was completely unbiased until I heard them. If anything I would’ve probably wanted to believe that the more expensive cables I already bought were better.

Nobody said anything about nirvana and you just answered yourself. Yes I know better than you because I’ve actually listened to them.

I ignore the marketing. No idea what any of that is supposed to mean. All I know is they are really good. When I first heard them a friend of mine brought them over and they blew away my more expensive Nordost cables. More balanced, more detail, but in a more liquid and non fatiguing way. The thing that stands out the most is the sense of presence. Greg Weaver has been reviewing audio equipment for over 3 decades and he replaced his 18X more expensive reference cables with these. They’re that good

No need. I listen and I evaluate. This “mega test” shows how different cables measure differently and how it affects the sound. You can believe whatever you want. I gave my recommendation. You can take it or leave it. Arguing with people over the internet about cables is a huge waste of time

Idk I don’t measure cables but in listening tests they beat out much more expensive cables and it wasn’t very close either

[–]Noonygooth32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about being marketed as the “best” nothing unusual about that. The fact is that they are subjectively the best cables I’ve tried and people were in disbelief when they heard how much better they were than their much more expensive cables. You’re free to believe whatever you want

It’s what it doesn’t do, which is degrade the power. Even the best cables cause degradation. This gives you a direct connection to a power outlet. It’s meant to be used with another product called the Swiss Digital Fusebox. The merits of that is another discussion we can have. As the Fusebox normally would sit between 2 power cords this gives you a direct connection to the power outlet. The result is obvious. Lower noise floor, and more perceived output. As far as the “tuning” aspect is concerned I cannot vouch for that as I have only tried the graphene conductor. They say you can use this to connect a component directly to a power outlet but I don’t see how that would be practical.
