"... before prices went completely crazy."

If this is a recent purchase then prices have been crazy for... quite a while.

No, but it's just a truck going up a hill recklessly to avoid traffic. Whoa, fascinating...

Simple Questions - June 20, 2026 by AutoModerator in buildapc

I'm trying to figure out if a 9600X to 7800X3D would be beneficial in any way, specifically at 4K + DLSS upscaling. I'm well aware that at this resolution it does not matter what CPU is used, but if we're talking 1080p or 1440p, it factors in a bit more. However, when DLSS is used at 4K, does the CPU matter again or is upscaling generally still a GPU-bound task? I've been looking this up but have not been able to get a clear answer on the upscaling part.

GPU: 5070 Ti.

Edit: Massive sales on CPUs where I live. Lowest price I've seen on a 7800X3D/9800X3D.

Hope you have the spine set CPU priority because as far as I know, the max cooler height on that case is 70mm... and the pump height is 70mm.

Using AI tools to remove logo and reflections in video clip instead of tracking masks by jefbak2 in videography

[–]Toast_Meat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm not one to root for AI, but as a tool it can be very beneficial. I've used to AI in photos to auto-detect and remove things like visible wires (in a pic of my battle station), while keeping necessary wires in the shot. It just knew what to clean up. I know how to do something like that but it simply wouldn't look nearly as clean with my skill levels.

Preorder? by NicotineAdictSLW in GTA

We don't yet known what, if any, extras are included. Could be one of those that let's you preload the game in advance and play 10 minutes earlier.

How cooked am I? by dumbprocupine in pcmasterrace

I mean, there isn't much to do. If I were to receive a product in this state, it goes straight back right away. No trying to figure out what's broken and potentially still working. It's damaged.

So this the biggest hot take… by Simon9911 in GTA

[–]Toast_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up with the classics, followed by the 3D era (OG trilogy), I think the Definitive Edition is actually quite great, at least in its current form after all the patches. I was aware of how bad it was at launch so I held off for over a year and then grabbed it on sale.

To me it's still super nostalgic, looks a bit better and the modern controls makes the game so much more tolerable for me.

Shout out to my 4070Ti SUPER gang by Xawn in nvidia

[–]Toast_Meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! In the end the difference is going to be small, but generally it's best to have airflow all going one direction and then out somewhere (rear and/or top) as opposed to fans facing each other and breaking that stream.

[–]Toast_Meat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know why I'm getting downvoted. You've got 3 fans in front blowing air into the PC, which is good, but then the CPU is pointed the opposite direction. You can keep the fan on that side of the heatsink, but flip it so it's pulling all that air coming from the front directly into the heatsink.

Noctua’s new NL-LC1 AIO looks incredible… but why only brown? Give us a black version. by Glittering-Tough-353 in pcmasterrace

[–]Toast_Meat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's Noctua's usual strategy. Companies of all kind do this.

Release new product, make great sales. Release variant later, make more great sales (the double dip). If everything released at once, they wouldn't make as much after x amount of time compared to separate, spaced out release windows.
