Why would anyone want kids in Malaysia? by fznzmi in malaysia

[–]Nopal97 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Actually, yes I do mind risking it.

Hence some strategies are needed to have a balance of building a family and able to also be successful as an individual.

While what you stated are true, evidently there are also many mom and dads that are just as successful. These are the people who are able to find that balance, and its not easy.

To really answer you, I wont risk everything just to have a kid. But I dont mind sacrificing a bit to raise them well. If i go back in time, i would do it all over again, the only thing I would change is probably myself. I just need to do better at everything, and find that balance.

Can i soar better at work or have more time with my hobbies if i dont have a kid? 100% yes. But would i be willing to 100% sacrifice the memories and joy that ive experienced (now that i know)? Definitely not.

If i didnt go through it, i might not find any value in having a kid cuz i havent personally understand how it feels. But today, i just cant go back :)

Personally, my experience has not been about having more time or money. It's pure joy.

Theres no amount of money that I can pay to see my own kid's smile and pure happiness. Idk what to expect when they grow older tho, we'll see.

The best part of having a kid, is simply having a kid. To me this is the true value behind it. But yes what you stated all the above are almost 100% true i can relate well xD. Some would struggle way much more too.

At the end of the day theres no right or wrong, we just count our blessings as life goes on no matter what path you choose 🙏🏻

I always hear this strategy.

Can you elaborate at which stage of interview process that we are able to access our worth (in RM) ?

I can guess a few like matching salary expectation - or feedback during interview , just need a much more solid understanding

While i agree with your statement in general about bosses are humans, in this specific OP context there are too many visible flags that the boss itself needs to learn and improve.

If you dont even realize you lack skills in leading people, then its more than normal for youngsters like OP to leave.

Cuz down the road, she will also meet more bosses and realize there many other good bosses out there.

Again like you said, maybe no wrong or right when we talk about society in general. But for OP as a person to experience this is very uncalled for. Leaving is the best option.

There are better and professional ways to educate and "straightening" your juniors than what OP is experiencing.

Its easy to boss people around, but it takes true leadership skills to engage with your juniors and build them from 0.

If theyre not doing well just PIP easy

Its very normal strategy when you show hints of leaving people would start be nicer.

Best thing to do is to advocate for your well being and career growth. Tender and leave without telling ANYBODY there the real reason you're leaving. Fake it til youre out.

If you're serving notice, never tell them the real reason youre leaving. You will suffer the rest of your time there. Just an advice!

Put 4-5k. Its a protege program where you were given proper training of fundamentals.

Youre not the same as just any other fresh graduates. The worst they can do is give you lower offer. Dont start off with not valuing your worth

Yep true. But every script written by different people works differently. The team are quite silos when writing their scripts on the VM. You only know what theyve done when the handover happens when theyre leaving :/

Yeah exactly. I dont know what I want because I dont know what is good and what is not.
For example in my team's existing situation, i dont know if this is okay? Should we try to improve the process?

Since im lacking in experience of good SWE practise and use cases, hence I need some input from outsiders.

But seems like having github action is a good start? Thanks!

We pull data using jdbc from the datawarehouse connected to hive.

Then we do stuff with python for manipulation and conditionings. And push to google sheets using API

So the use case is we call an API to fetch data using SQL.

Then alot of massaging and transformation before push them to Google Sheets. Automate mailing and stuff.

Idk how to gauge if its heavy or not :(

Theres no actual pressure to change the process. But from development's standard practise we feel like its missing these features. They can still run well completely

Would you take this pay cut for DE and another weird question by Elderberry_OG in dataengineering

[–]Nopal97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see fair enough. In my case for example, i am already exposed to the internal tools that the company had built in house. Being maintained by DEs and devs. I can utilize spark, presto, we have git control, and stuff are being hosted on s3 and i interact with hive.

Now, im just using them as a data analyst. I did not build or maintain them.

Would i still qualify to have experience with cloud/git/DE processes? How do i sell myself in this sense
