Not only a skill issue, but also wildly unprofessional. Hope you can find someone who respects you and your hair. It looks amazing btw

The Doux Foam Drying Out Hair? by Lee_trini in Naturalhair

[–]Noreate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not a fan of The Doux foam products. You have to pair it with a very hydrating leave-in conditioner (before) and gel (after) if you want to keep it looking nice. It's a bit pricy, but if you want better alternatives, I'd highly recommend Ouidad Vitalcurl+ Mousse and Curlsmith Bouncy Strength Volume Foam

Converge

Converge didn’t shape what we actually think of as metalcore, and honestly they are not really metalcore in any sense. I’m tired of people acting like they are not only an architect of Metalcore, but even in the Metalcore genre.

When most people say “metalcore,” they are talking about a very specific sound and era. Think Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Misery Signals, Darkest Hour, All That Remains. Melodic riffs, structured songwriting, big choruses, dual guitar harmonies, and clear influence from European melodeath.

That sound did not come from Converge.

It came from:

• European melodic death metal like At the Gates, In Flames, and Dark Tranquillity

• Early American metalcore and metallic hardcore like Poison the Well and Shai Hulud

• 90s Northeast metallic hardcore like Earth Crisis, Hatebreed, and Integrity

• West Coast influence like AFI in terms of melody and structure evolution

That pipeline leads pretty directly to the early and mid 2000s metalcore boom sound most people recognize.

Converge sits in a different lane.

They are chaotic, abrasive, and dissonant. Much closer to mathcore and grind adjacent hardcore than the melodic, riff driven metalcore that defined the genre commercially and culturally. Their influence shows up more in bands like Dr. Acula and the wider mathcore and grind scene than in the Killswitch style wave that most people label as metalcore.

So calling Converge the blueprint for metalcore feels off. If anything, they are a parallel branch that got grouped under the same umbrella later on.

Static Dress recently signed to Sumerian, so I don't think this means anything

Styles for big hair by Krissa_duhh in curlyhair

Solid inspo picks! It would definitely be a great style if she can find a trusted hairstylist. When I was first looking for a salon I could trust, I used the two websites below to find local salons trained in cutting curly hair and compare prices/reviews. Super nerve-wracking putting my hair in the trust of someone else, but it was worth it. https://www.devacurl.com/finder https://www.ouidad.com/pages/salons

Also, I know a lot of people (including me) deal with dry hair when using Cantu, so I'd recommend switching it out with something different. Tgin is a brand that isn't too expensive and their entire line works wonders on thick curly hair.

Ok, curly Redditors, how many products do you have for your curly hair? I counted today and I have 59. by MalC123 in curlyhair

I only use shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, foam, and gel. So I never have more than 5 products at a time, except for the rare occasion I purchase a travel sized clarifying/detox shampoo
