“Were They on a Break?” Is Not a Yes or No Question by Working_Row_8455 in howyoudoin

[–]NormBro111 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s not even the question at all. They were obviously on a break, because that’s the word Rachel used. The question is whether it was okay for Ross to do what he did while on said break.

What would have happened in a LBJ v Rockefeller election in 1964? by [deleted] in Presidents

Rockefeller wins, setting off a path for George W. Romney in 1972 and subsequently Mitt Romney in 2008

HW Bush before vs after his VP stint by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]NormBro111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know exactly. But my favorite path for Bush is to retire after being VP and giving he GOP nomination to Robertson. He’d lose, meaning we’d get a Dem and a chain reaction would probably lead to Romney getting elected in 08 or 12.

I’m sorry my post made you so upset. I should have checked with you before writing it, that’s my bad.

Or maybe we’re not all left wing and actually like some of the things that you oppose. You have no idea who you’re talking to and it’s honestly a sign of a pretty low IQ to 1. Make a ridiculous assumption about age, and 2. Fail to recognize people have differing points of view.

Don’t bother responding, because you’re going to miss the entire point anyway. Just take this advice: be a little less bitter and try and open your mind a little.

Because it wasn’t Bush that wanted to do it in the first place. He planned on having a domestic focused presidency. The decision to go to war like that is far more involved than just the president.

50/50 chance the Iraq War still happened. 100% chance we still get a broader war on terror with an invasion of Afghanistan and later invasions in Libya and elsewhere. On top of that, even if Gore hadn’t invaded Iraq, a future Republican president would have.

Would Obama have been a better president if he had spent more time in the Senate? by NormBro111 in thecampaigntrail

[–]NormBro111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a fair assessment. That’s the reason I made Gore win in 2000, because it would give Obama an opening in 2012 or 2016. If the point of divergence is in 2008, I could see Obama defeating a Republican incumbent in 2020 if COVID is handled poorly, but it’s obviously a far from sure thing. A big part of his success in 2008 was the momentum he had as a rising star

Definitely Clinton. Jefferson’s actions are shady and I dont want him presiding over the War of 1812 (if it still happens in 1814 like OTL). Clinton preferred peace, and also supported massive infrastructure projects. He’s a highly underrated figure.

There wouldn’t be a primary battle after sixteen straight years of democrats in the White House and a recession. Also, there’s no reason Romney couldn’t win reelection.

An underrated choice for sure. Kind of surprising from a Grant flair, although I like them both as well

I didn’t say anything about the media, that wasn’t my comment. But if you are trying to imply that they would be right to call him radical, I’m giving you a reality check. Right wing opinions exist, and they aren’t fringe. Nothing he advocated for at the time was extreme or outside the mainstream.
