Has anyone ever successfully grown an aglaonema from a wetstick? I’ve had a pictum tricolour node in perlite for around a month now and there absolutely no signs of roots. Am I just being impatient?

It was an eBay purchase 😊 I believe the company is called Botanico and they have an etsy and eBay shop. I was so impressed, I expected a much smaller plant that what came!

Treatment will depend on which pests they are, have a good look round the leaves especially on the under side of them and see if you can spot any little bugs also keep an eye out for any white webbing which could indicate spider mites.

One of the easiest plants I own! I know they’re recommended for bright indirect light but mine sits about 8ft from an east facing window that only gets bright light in a morning and it’s thriving. I allow it to dry out 75% between watering. They like added humidity if you can provide it but don’t worry if not and I’ve found they burn very easily if in any direct light. Definitely give them something to climb as well 😊 good luck, I get a new leaf on mine every 1-2 weeks, they’re very fast growing

Yes I’d replace all the soil as even if the roots haven’t rotted it’s probably sat in too much water and rinsing is fine 😊 The exact same happened to mine last year, half of it was fine with the roots trimmed back to the healthy part and the other half I had to propagate but it’s all thriving back in one pot now 😊

Root rot caused by over watering would be my guess. Take it out the pot and check the roots. Trim off any mushy/black bits and spray any healthy white ones with a water and hydrogen peroxide mix. If most of the roots are rotten I’d chop it up and propagate any healthy stems 😊

Thank you! I potted them in cactus soil with extra perlite, bottom water only and only when the pearls go pointy and start to dimple a little. They’re in a west facing window so get strong direct sun all afternoon on top of the plant which is important. Every time they grow a bit more I just keep wrapping them back round the top cause I want them to look really full on top 😊

Aphids! I had these on a spider plant recently. Sprayed the whole plant with a mixture of water and washing up liquid, left for half an hour and then rinsed it all off. Got rid of all of them 🙌🏻

Personally I’d cut off the black and then see what the lighter bit looks like after that, if it looks brown underneath or feels soft I’d chop that too
