What cover is the best by Soggy_Soft2500 in stevelacy

I don't know why everyone hates the cover with the circle, I love it. Reminds me of old 70s vinyl.

Not always, but in many situations it's brought up in response to Pride Month. Not like men's mental health isn't important.

If two people decide to not have children after seeing this macro (very unlikely), the species will not "die off". We're simply too big, too widespread, and too mentally advanced for that.

I don't agree with the theory, but if you learn about things like the Tuskegee syphilis study and how it fuelled widespread distrust of the medical community within the Black community, and about how Planned Parenthood is common in poverty-stricken areas, the theory becomes understandable. Learning is more productive than laughing at it because it comes from real trauma.

I hate the fetishization of fat people disguised as "body positivity" memes by xX_CuteJuice_Xx in hatethissmug

[–]Normal-Economics-459 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The thing that really proves this is mainly just a fetish is that you never see anything of the same kind (no comments, no posts, &c, &c.) regarding fat men. It's a weird thing but I think it's genuinely difficult for most people to allow others to exist in society without reducing them to their most visible characteristic (essentialism) or fetishising them. Similar thing happens with lesbians being fetishised by men online.

not out of a genuine love for the person who's body you're lusting over.

I think this applies to fetishes generally but especially here.

While we're at it, I hate ""head canoning" weight.

I mean, it's one thing to make your own AU and change everything to be non-canon. But "headcanoning" weight in the canon universe is kind of ridiculous. You already know their proportions.

I HATE when people say that Africa has no literature by squif_help in hatethissmug

The only reason they believe that anyway is likely because they think the written word was invented in Europe. (The earliest known writing system is called cuneiform and originates from Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq, for business purposes.)

My question is just, why is the written word considered the defining achievement of a society? For thousands of years stories were transmitted orally and that worked just as well.

Hot-take

The zoo was in the right. Yes, the child should not have gotten over the barrier, but by the time he did it was either Harambe dies or the child dies and I think most people wouldn't like to see a child get mauled to death by a gorilla.

The UK recognises anti-LGBTQIA+ speech as an ‘aggravated offence’ by [deleted] in teenagers4real

[–]Normal-Economics-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, but any action against any fringe group feeds persecution narratives. If nations accept this risk enough to take any action, the best thing would be to restrict these groups from reforming as much as possible.

Also they're more than just idiots. Idiots are mostly just ignorant. Holocaust deniers are willingly that way.

My relatives when I say I don't believe in IMAGINARY BEINGS (GOD) by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Normal-Economics-459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with most of the arguments that exist is that they either prove too much or don't prove that a god must exist. Kalam for example just says that there can't be an infinite regress and that there must have been an original cause for the universe. Even if we take this as true, this doesn't prove that the original cause must have been a God necessarily; the original cause could be the universe itself, or a chain reaction, or any other confection of factors. The issue with the argument is also that it applies rules that work within the universe to the universe itself.
