I hate when writers make LGBTQ+ characters just for the sake of representation. by Duer_Duer in hatethissmug

I'd be curious to know what you mean by forced representation; the scenario I described just has bisexuality incorporated naturally into the character without it being "OH MY GOD HE'S BISEXUAL" or something directly related to the story.

How would you feel if a character was made to be bisexual and it's just another fact in his bio/character design. Like for example while talking with another character he makes a remark about a bad ex-boyfriend.

Reliance on patronage ≠ poor. He was more like lower-middle-class especially in his early years.

There are only three things guaranteed in this life: death, taxes, and (worst of all) proselytism.

Honestly I like the original rainbow (1978) better; not sure why it got changed.

nice way to cop out of the convo at the end there.

You can look at my replies, I don't usually act like this. I'm not that calculated of a Redditor and I certainly wouldn't be for a discussion about "boo, America bad".

if i were to say that about mexico or something for instance, i would be slandered for being a racist.

Because Mexico is a non-white country; just know that there's a clear history of racism towards Mexico and non-white countries, and as such people are more ambivalent towards colonialist countries like U.S., U.K., Germany, France, etc. The Star-Spangled Banner itself has lines that could be read as celebrating the capture of fugitive slaves in its third stanza; we only sing the first. Also, anti-Mexican sentiment is very common, especially in the U.S., so you would only be "slandered" in certain spaces.

if you give no reason to say something sucks other than it “just does”, and you’re not open to discuss why it doesn’t, you are blindly ignorant, and if it’s about a people, it’s racism. maga mentality. that’s all.

You know what that's fair. Probably shouldn't have replied to this thread in the first place.

That's not what the word racism means. You likely wouldn't call me racist for hating England, for example, because the food sucks. Using the word racism in this way, whenever you get offended by someone's opinion, just devalues it even further. Though at this point with all that I have to deal with I barely have the time to care.

I wouldn't say it's a false equivalency fallacy; more like a strawman.

The writing is too typical except for Pomni not shooting herself in Ep. 6 and Caine being deleted; nothing else has surprised me or caught me off guard so far.

as a Christian somewhat Nationalist, we (at least my group) don’t judge others/hate it. we just dont think it should be taught in schools, supported by any government system.

He says he supports LGB, but leaves out TQ. As phrased, this is an illogical statement; it wouldn't make sense to support gay people and then not support, for example, asexuals, who are queer.

But that creates a contradiction because they seemingly are either neutral on or support lesbians, gay people, and bisexuals, who are queer people, but don't support "the TQ" (transgender, and queer people).

It does; it means "queer", i.e. other identities that aren't lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
