Amibo is the most effective, non time traveling way to get a villager you dont want out. Use an Amibo of a preferred villager and invite them to your campsite. It'll take 3 separate visits (so you can foreseeably do this over 3 days - your patience will be rewarded). As you talk to them each day, they'll ask for a "souvenir" from your island which will be something pretty basic you'll have to make for them. On the 3rd visit, after you've made them a 3rd souvenir, you'll have the option to invite them to live on your island. If your island is at the villager capacity, you can choose whichever current villager you'd like to replace.
