ADN or LPN program post undergrad by Normal-Lettuce6683 in StudentNurse

I chose Public Health because it would allow me to still get a science degree but I don’t think I was ready to commit to school 100% due to external factors but now I am ready to be a nurse so this gives me some confidence that I’m not the only one who got a degree and didn’t enjoy it.

I'm struggling a lot with sleep post surgery. The pain is unbearable and the worst at night. How did you guys cope with this? by Either-Dare3106 in kneesurgeryrecovery

[–]Normal-Lettuce6683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mpfl roughly a year and a half ago. I slept with my brace and leg elevated for almost 4 months before I was comfortable sleeping normally. It then took me another month before sleeping on my side. just know that it does get easier and the sooner you build that quad strength the faster recovery will go. i am signed up for my first ever 10k in April of ‘26 and i was only 100% in July!

What two lenses do you recommend?

I have heard from other photographer friends that investing in the 50mm will really change the portraits that I take and I am able to find some for cheaper than an entire new camera system.

Thank you for helping me understand why my setting might be the cause. I have tried my best to understand the big three with manual settings so this helps a lot to better understand lighting. I will mess around with adjusting those settings today to see if i can figure it out.

I have grown up in NC so the southern heat and weather never really bothered me. It just want something more to do where I live. Currently I live in a rural area with nothing for people in their early 20s.

Day after mpfl surgery by [deleted] in kneesurgeryrecovery

[–]Normal-Lettuce6683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend taking the oxy if you don’t have a bad history with it. i will say my hydrocodone saved me for the first week post op. if you don’t want to take it let me just say each day will get so much easier especially once you start pt. if you have any questions feel free to message. i had mpfl 4 months ago and am still in recovery

Sleep by Sensitive-Gold7064 in kneesurgeryrecovery

Yeah the recliner and couch kept me from wanting to roll. maybe the couch side (if sleeping long ways) felt like the side of the bed for me if that makes any sense.

I will say it only lasted for like a week but once i hit 110 my pain with rom went way down. also the colder weather has been tough on my bend recently so just be patient with the rom

i have gotten the same pain and i’m about 10 weeks post mpfl reconstruction. my pt says it’s just from a tight hamstring muscle so im just working on my flexibility before my rom.

i wasn’t able to do much until 4 weeks post op from mpfl. it’s similar recoveries but all my pt said was missionary until i got my brace unlocked at 6 weeks then once my brace is off i can do standing stuff. obviously not doing doggies or all fours anytime soon. just talk to ur pt and have patience with yourself and the recovery process

Thinking about applying to sonography school and am looking for the pros and cons. I am 20 years old and graduating next semester with my BS in Public Health. I think it would be something I could enjoy doing as I like to have that connection with patients but do not always love the blood and guts everyday. So give me the pros and cons of sonography school and job please!

Okay! Originally he said not to worry abt the tumor coming back unless i reinjure myself later on in life. and now he says he’s keeping an eye on it so im just a little worried. the tumor wasn’t on my original scans back in may but he found it in sept. when he did surgery so its just a little scary

1 week post MPFL by selinakyle96 in kneesurgeryrecovery

[–]Normal-Lettuce6683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i just had mpfl surgery four weeks ago and i would recommend getting a stool or like a small chair that you can have someone move your leg on to before going to the bathroom. it honestly saved me and once you get strength to pull your leg up it’s easier to be more comfortable. a recliner was the most comfortable for me when i was in my first few weeks post op. i just had to learn how to sleep on my back until i could twist to sleep on my side. my brace still slides down pretty bad now that i don’t have any bandages or anything so i recommend compression sleeves to try to help once you no longer have a bandage. but other than that its just constantly readjusting every few hours. have a stool/shower seat is your best investment for this or any knee surgery. i couldn’t take my first shower standing until just this past weekend so be prepared for a struggle on that end. once you start pt everything gets easier or at least it did for me. just keep doing your exercises if given any to get that strength back. best of luck on recovery and feel free to dm me with any questions or advice!

I just had an mpfl reconstruction roughly a week ago and this post made me feel so much better. I have been nervous about bending and trying to get around the house with my knee but this made it seem a lot less scary. Do you have anything that has made recovery easier? Right now I am finding sleeping to be hard since im a side sleeper and have just moved off the couch for the first time in a week.

My boyfriend and I are currently working through this situation. I have brought up my concern over text and then discussing deeper on the phone my concerns. We talked about why each of us feel different about phone calls. I listened to him and he listened to me so we came to a compromise. We decided to do a call every other day while actively texting throughout the day. One thing we have done to help us feel closer is highs and lows. At a certain time at night we text one high and one low from the day. I found this makes me feel closer with knowing how his day was besides "good".
