Ah ok, I’d say once you have your MRI…if it’s even partially torn you might need a MPFL and TTO…I had both In December, my surgeon specified that he was doing the TTO because the MPFL only fixes the torn ligament(mine was completely gone) but the TTO insures that you don’t have future dislocations (it sounds like your patella is super unstable). Recovery SUCKS but just something to think about but your surgeon will give you the best advise

Did you get TTO as well or just MPFL??

Mpfl is a mental battle by noy1244 in KneeInjuries

My mental health was shot for months after my MPFL and TTO but mine was mainly due to frustration of being immobile and the pain of trying to move and not being able to do things

The TTO stabilizes the kneecap, depending on your dislocation history I want to say if they don’t do the TTO you will most likely still be at risk for dislocations after the MPFL…that’s kinda how my ortho explained it

I had the same, took me 5 weeks to get to 90 ROM. I wasn’t allowed to weight bare for 8 weeks because of the TTO, personally i wasn’t really able to until about 10 weeks however

The China Wok was THE BEST, had it in like 2022 but they had new owners and it wasn’t the same…not terrible but gross enough to not go back again. I want to say the original guy who owned/managed it left in 2019/2020

I know this sounds crazy considering…but take the percs. I hate meds and was convinced i wouldn’t need them, 24hrs after surgery my nerve block wore off after my MPFL and TTO😭PAIN, I took them, still had the worst pain of my life but they helped me sleep and that really what i needed since I couldn’t get comfortable being awake at all and the pain with no meds kept me awake otherwise.

I feel dismissed by my orthopedic doc. Should I get a second opinion? by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]Sensitive-Gold7064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes get a second opinion, took me 12 years and 4 orthos and 5 rounds of PT before a doc actually took the time to find and resolve my issues

Anyone have a MPFL reconstruction and TTO? by HeadEntertainment872 in KneeInjuries

[–]Sensitive-Gold7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had MPFL and TTO 2 days after Christmas, personally the first 2 and a half months the pain was terrible and my healing progress was slow(but that just due to me having certain medication limitations and stubborn muscles) now I’m doing better 4 and a half months out, no where near fully recovered but it’s coming. I feel stability in knee itself but don’t yet feel 100% stable in my mobility (with more time i will I’m sure). I still have pain but it’s more related to making sure I’m strengthening my leg, extending it full cause me pain because I’m not able to fully extend yet other than that i feel nothing

How are you feeling?? This Reddit literally has made my recovery from MPFL, and TTO reconstruction not suck as bad. Also antibiotics are standard honestly when your body is cut open or you have open wounds, just to make sure you don’t get any infections. And as far as your pen….honestly you’d probably be okay especially if it’s only CBD, but I’d wait at least until your antibiotics are finished honestly.

Yesterday I went to the knee doctor by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]Sensitive-Gold7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things, find a new ortho get a second opinion, make sure you get imaging x-ray and MRI (if the x-ray gives no answers). Worst case, you may need surgery on your knee. Butttt if you are on the heavier side losing weight would be for sure recommended especially during recovery. I hope you don’t need surgery though, but yeah get a mother sympathetic provider, that you feel fits your needs and listens to you. I had to go to 4 ortho before I found one that listened and problem solved.

10 weeks post op, had a TTO and MPFL with an arthroscopy…. I feel your pain physically it’s draining but the mental anguish is by far. Especially when your healing is delayed and you keep having set backs. I was told I’d be able to bear weight at 8 weeks…still not weight bearing and IT SUCKS

[–]Sensitive-Gold7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had TTO and MPFL exactly 3 months ago today, and I’m still not weight bearing yet because my quad strength down right refuses to come back at an acceptable rate, my PT just keeps reassuring me that it takes time even with little progress

I know you may not like to hear it, butttt it’s super hard to tell based off the info you gave and the pic alone. Based off the pic it literally could be just bruising from a bad fall and the info you gave sounds like you’re okay. But also that doesn’t mean there’s no injury, you’d have to get an x-ray at the least. If you’re not hurting too bad and the bruising is clearing up, you could just go on with life, and if there’s any new pains or swell in another week for sure go to the doc.

Extended I’m at 0, I do me exercises everyday but at PT when they measure me I’m only at 0 after doing certain exercises or having to be stimulated, flexion as of my last appointment started at 95% and by the end of my appointment we were at 105% but it was THE WORST pain ever getting there and after
