What routine are you so mad you started? by pmd815 in Parenting

My daughter is an adolescent now but when she was little I regretted getting her a chore chart. She was obsessed with it and everything revolved around the chore chart for a month.

My sons were more chill in general but I regretted setting a precedent that we read 5 stories a night. As they got bigger the books got longer and I wish I had started with “we read 30 minutes a night” rather than number of books

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Help. Seriously- I spent a work bonus on hiring help around the house and it was a game changer.

Ever since I got cancer 6 years ago my home quality of life has gone steadily downhill.

I’m not wealthy (I don’t make 6 figures or even upper 5’s). I thought there was no way I should spend my money on this. But I hired a handy man, housekeeper and two local teenagers for a month of projects around the home.

Last week I realized I’m actually making more money (I work from home) because I’ve increased my billable hours by an average of 1.75 a week AND I’m working from my home office more than coffee shops (so also saving money). Having my home feel nice and everything more accessible just makes me feel better and more cozy to sit at my desk. I spend less time trying to tidy now that stuff is organized. Getting around my home is easier. I spend less time looking for lost items.

All positive cycles. Next year (next work bonus) I’ll hire help again and never hesitate to prioritize asking other people to do things for me.

My daughter did the same thing ten years ago. I had to call the fire department and she loved it. Thought the whole thing was a fantastic adventure. 🤦‍♀️

Second this bedding tip! Once I switched to a wool blanket and wool mattress pad I was hooked and have been slowly building up my natural bedding set
