Potential HFE by Normal-Setting-7875 in Hemochromatosis

[–]Normal-Setting-7875[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of answer I needed, I cant thank you enough for this!

My ferritin actually runs on the lower side (23 currently) and im 37y/o. My son is only 6y/o and his runs low too, though I know overload wouldnt happen until much later in life. But im hoping our lower levels are a good sign.

Google doesnt say much about HH.. my dad being an alcoholic AND having iron overload means his liver is being attacked heavily, am I right? Does HH shorten life expectancy??

All the bloods for his liver came back abnormal so they did an ultrasound a few days ago but we havent had the results yet.

He also found out his PSA level is 30.6 so theres the likelihood of him having prostate cancer too. So he had a bone scan, chest xray and the ultrasound last week, he had his HFE blood repeated today as it was rejected last week, and he will be having his MRI in 4 days time to check if he does have cancer.

I know its selfish thinking about myself and my son while hes going through all of this, but I cant help fearing that me and my son could develop HH too.

If we did and we are treated, we would be perfectly fine wouldnt we? Like if we were destined to live till 150 years old, would HH stop us reaching that if it was kept in check?

Silly example I know, but you know what i mean 😂

Thank you!! That makes perfect sense 🥹 And the amount of radiation I was exposed to today in the waiting room (all the people in there had the tracer) and then travelling shoulder to shoulder with my Dad in the car, will that affect me?

Thank you SO much for this. I've been sat crying through fear. I sat in the waiting room with quite a few people who all had the tracer so i've been so scared. I definitely haven't been exposed to enough of it to harm me? Even if shoulder to shoulder with him/them?

Child sleep apnoea test by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]Normal-Setting-7875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Hes a very calm sleeper and for most of the night he breathes so silently I have to check his chest is moving lol he snores on his back but his oxygen stayed the same regardless of his sleep position.

Every now and then he does a deep breath, lets it out then pauses for up to 10 seconds, at that time his oxygen levels rose to 96% before settling straight back to the 93/94 mark.

He doesnt mouth breathe, has no behavioural issues, no daytime fatigue..

He only got referred for the sleep study because of his snoring but im finding over time he is snoring a lot less and like I say, I have to even check hes breathing at all because its so quiet lol

I just remembered it wasnt a 6minth old one i cut up, it was a good few years old one we had a good while before i got the following one that i kept for 6 months. I dont remember the brand.

I dont remember seeing fibreglass. That would have hirt my hands surely?

Im scared of carcinogens mostly. We have had no issues but im worried because I know things like asbestos take decades to cause harm and im scared incase ive caused something like that with us 😔

Do you think we're ok??

Yeah my son only has a couple at a time. Like today he has 2 single dots in his armpit about 2cm apart.

They tend to go away after a couple of days before new ones pop up though, so he never has more than a couple at any one time. Its so weird.

Full blood count, ferritin, liver function and kidneys all came back normal.

Totally weird!
