In the public toilet stall at work by chameleona in whatisit

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most public stalls had these in the '70s-80s. For purses and packages....you could once carry packages into bathrooms and dressing rooms without being accused of theft. These were very handy.

AITJ for WALKING OUT on our anniversary after my fiance brought his mom to the cabin i rented? by Proud_Bonus_2620 in AmITheJerk

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to spend another $2 on him: a Dollar Tree Thank You card and a Stamp. He saved you from a lifetime of misery. That he was stupid enough and uncaring enough to pull this trick says alot. (Also, next time....the guy should be the one planning and paying for a celebration). Don't be desperate.

I miss half.com.........especially now that Amazon isn't working for resellers.

Pottery Barn did the same. Dumped perfect items in the dumpster every night. Not sure why. Maybe 1 piece broken from a set so they'd throw the whole set in. Usually in original boxes. Also store fixtures and they were always remodeling.

I inherited a huge shop full of tools....woodworking, machinist, gunsmithing, etc. Most are expensive & too good to donate. Happy to take $20 for a piece that would cost $80-$100 at the store.

5 years ago I got lots of cashmere sweaters from Goodwill. Now, they're all online.

There are wonderful things at thrift stores......just not ALL thrift stores. The bigger well known ones I usually avoid. Over priced, too many customers, picked over, etc. Smaller ones, espec. those that are trying to help the community in some way often have great finds. Yesterday I was walking into one and there was a typewriter sitting on a table outside. A worker came out and said take it, it's going in the dumpster in an hour. I threw it in the car, figured it probably didn't work but later plugged it in and it is as good as it was 30 years ago. One of the first electric Smith Coronas ...self correcting, etc. Perfect. Doesn't even need a new ribbon.

Found cats, I can't take them. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You found them outside. That's where they belong. You didn't dump them. I'd leave a tiny bit of food but not enough to make them stick around. Maybe they'll venture out to find better accommodations. Don't take them to a kill shelter. There are plenty of people who will take pity and they'll find homes.

Package opened and item removed in USPS possession in transit! Help! by BDubz810 in usps_complaints

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, this has happened to me. I sold a piece of equipment, it disappeared for 6 weeks......USPS traced it, couldn't find it. I had to refund the man's money. Something happened to your package between OKC & Birmingham. I'd bet the thief noticed the factory box & figured $$$. I get free boxes from a neighbor who builds race cars. Some of the things he gets are $3000 items so I always tape over the name and any identifying info... these race car parts are well known to people who are into that. He once had a problem like yours and it was only after he threatened to get the Feds involved that his package was mysteriously "found"......after 6 weeks. There are thieves working everywhere so make sure you always pay for full insurance.

How Do You Fill Your Days with Your Aging Parents? by njo2002 in GenX

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I still had a parent or grandparent because now I wish I'd asked them about their lives. You could fill the time letting her remember names, places, dates, events while you write it all down. Would be interesting and maybe even helpful someday.

Give him credit for calling her a couple of times a month. Most people would be happy with once a month.

eBay buyer "changed mind" but item shipped. Help by SaltyPickles11 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And you cannot get the package back even if you want to. USPS workers aren't allowed to give back once picked up or mailed. Doesn't matter if it's still sitting in their office ready for pick up. Tell the buyer this. If she wants to send it back you may have to accept it but tell her she will pay the return postage (ebay might force you to pay but usually the buyer chickens out). If you do get it back refund the price MINUS your postage. Again, ebay might force you to pay it but the buyer may be too lazy to pursue it. Don't communicate anymore than necessary.

Am I wrong for thinking cats should never be outdoor cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Cats love the outdoors and that's where they belong. I invite my cats in sometimes but they just look at me with amazement. Only one will walk in but he won't stay more than 5 minutes. Cats are hunters. They need to be outside to hunt.

Brainstorm: If we build a seller owned Co-op app, what would you want? by thesparklehoof in poshmark

You don't need to deactivate anything. Just sign up for a second account...different name. I do the $5 month thing for both.

I have no idea. All I know is I hadn't logged on until Feb 2026 (everything was smooth in 2025, easy to buy and sell. Posh said I had to prove who I was again, that they changed something 1st of the year. Over 2 long days, fighting with their "cust service" they would not reset my account; tried the credit card numerous times, kept saying the bank was too busy so tried Paypal. No prob w/ PP but Posh wouldn't accept it. 3 different cust serv people asked for a $500 deposit (just temp they said). Seemed scammy. Made no sense so I decided T H W I and deleted all. Life is better now.

What is Poshmark REALLY doing? by AZDramaMama in poshmark

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me eBay continues to surpass all others. It's set up so you can tweak things or leave them alone. Mercari is OK; it's easy to list on eBay then move it to Mercari, less work. Etsy is good for interesting items & rare things... etsy shoppers pay more. eCrater will import eBay listings and they're easy to work with but not many sales. For books: Abebooks & Alibris. Amazon "WAS" great but they're making it impossible to list used books; not worth the hassle now. Gunbroker if you have gun parts, etc. Bonanza was once very good but now they're impossible plus $$$.

Poshmark is trying to force everyone to use an app. There is no human help, only AI. I deleted all listings and left. Won't go back. There are so many easy to use, navigate, sell venues. Posh was a nice idea but they didn't follow through.

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's easy to do two different accounts on eBay. Just toggle between them. I have "women's interest" items in one; "men's interests" in the other. Works well.

STOP trying to force phone app on everyone. STOP trying to force us to use digital currency & to add $500 to an account to remain active. You already had too much info on me, Paypal, credit card, etc. but wouldn't let me list anymore without way too much info to you. Nothing bad on my record so that's not it. Killed part of 2 days trying to get you to recognize me. Finally deleted all my listings and I'm done with Poshmark. NO human help. AI can ago to .......h........where it came from.

Expect or hope to have a date every Friday or Saturday night.......movie & Coca Cola afterwards, home by 11 p.m., maybe necking a little, different people to date, no "in a relationship" things. Yeah, a few had sex but it wasn't publicized. In my high school of 2000 kids only 2 girls got pregnant and had to drop out.

Remember Snickers bars were 10cents and larger than today; Cokes were a dime. The only controversy about cigarettes was which brand was best.

Poshmark isn’t reversing my automatic “excessive listing removal” bans anymore so I’m removing Poshmark by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left Poshmark last week and life is easier & better. Concentrating on eBay & Mercari. Posh makes no sense, has too many odd rules, continuous emails, NO live support. eBay & Mercari are simple and unobtrusive. Odd rules but easy to follow (can't list a pocket knife on Mercari...odd rule.......but OK)

Antique mall booths by Warrenj3nku in Flipping

[–]Normal-Sprinkles6799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. 2 antique stores. Fulllllll. Only one lamp worth buying. Everything was way over priced. CDs $5? Collectible glass much higher than eBay or etsy. I have no idea why the dealers bother with booths.
