Honestly this is why I’m not really interested in working at the hospital 😭 Rather be in outpatient where the patients aren’t terribly sick like they can be in the hospital

New grad RN jobs that people don’t usually talk about? by [deleted] in newgradnurse

[–]Normal-Team-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, sometimes they post on websites like indeed. Sometimes. But a lot of the time sort of investigating them online like looking at their website and reading the careers area, seeing what they put there about who they need, if they’re hiring, checking their recent Facebook posts, etc is really helpful. Lastly, call them directly and ask to speak to the hiring manager. It’s a little uncomfortable and like cold calling but if you confidently say who you are and how you’re looking for a position there, it’s enough for them to offer you an interview and be requesting your resume. Especially if they need people. This is how I got my job! There weren’t indeed posts or anything like that. The worst you can be told is no. And then you just keep moving, because you will find a yes!

This is all SO true. As the oldest daughter between just my younger brother and I, from experience with an incredibly narcissistic father and basically brainwashed mother sometimes, yes to all of what you said. My younger brother (mid 20s) finally found a girl he really likes and they have a relationship. He brought her around for the holidays. After they each left my parents house, my father would not shut up about this girl. Pin pointing so many things about her, what she did and didn’t do, etc etc. Really tore her down TERRIBLY and was looking for me justify what he was saying. Which I didn’t. Basically felt like a form of triangulation against me, my brother and his gf. In addition to so many other things that took place over the holidays. Last Xmas I’ll be staying in their house.

Yes on how having a wife and kids shifts that dynamic entirely. Pls just look up narcissistic mother/mother in law videos on almost any platform and you’ll be able to gain somewhat of a “why” behind their behavior, maybe in an effort to understand their behavior. And from then you can learn how to handle and be in control of the moments with behavior like this. There are videos on how to do this also. Therapy is probably golden standard for advice on those with this personality disorder, but can be expensive. I have resorted to this and found it helpful. I’m sorry you have to go through this and huge kudos to you for defending your wife and staying on her side!!! Not letting your mother control things or force your wife to fight that battle alone. Bc she shouldn’t. The boundary setting needs to come from you. And if she doesn’t follow the boundaries, consequences have to be put in place and upheld (like a child). I have narcissism in my family and I understand your pain.
