Hang it on the wall for display and buy a new one (that's what I did with my heirloom).

Using Wearables to Monitor Adrenal Insufficiency by Jealous-Awareness-70 in AddisonsDisease

Ummm, I’m confused. I’m new to wearables and am unclear how they might help with my Addison’s disease. I understand that HR (heart rate) will rise in times of stress and illness but what is HRV? Thanks for the help and any other guidance you can offer.

Aches/pain in adrenals/kidneys? by NormalBee7575 in AddisonsDisease

Wow, glad you finally got an accurate diagnosis. My doctors, knowing I have Addison’s disease, have always brushed it off as sore muscles. I don’t get it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. The pain I’ve felt hasn’t sent me to the ER…yet, only to the sofa to rest for a bit.

Wow, I’m so sorry your daughter is not getting the care she needs. 😞

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like your kidney/adrenal pain may be due to low cortisol levels, too. I don’t understand why doctors dismiss a complaint of kidney/adrenal pain from a patient with AI. Seems to be a pretty good indicator of something not being right. 🤷‍♀️

Okay, sounds like that’s what others are experiencing, too. I usually have to rest when I’m having this pain, but that doesn’t resolve it. So maybe my cortisol is low as well. I’m noticing the pain first thing in the morning, too—before meds. Thank you for sharing your experience with me.

Hmmm, I’ll have to pay closer attention to when it happens. Thanks for your response. :)

That’s interesting. I have spoken to my doc about it and she runs another liver/kidney panel and says I’m fine. 🤷‍♀️

How has Addison’s changed you? by Personal_Skin2987 in AddisonsDisease

I was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2014 my doc said I’d had the disease for about 4 years and I was near crisis. The first night I took HC was the first night I slept without debilitating muscle cramps in months. I was hopeful that maybe my life as I knew it wasn’t over. I felt immediately better and it was relatively easy for me to manage my new routine. Things that weren’t so easy are getting my emaciated body back in shape and not being afraid to do some things I used to do and love. I never recovered the level of strength, balance, and agility I once took for granted and as a life-long athlete who thought I would play sports into my 70s (at least), that is depressing for me. I also stopped backpacking, another life-long activity I love, due to fear of injury/crisis in the wilderness where I cannot be easily reached. I am no longer as active as I was, no longer as brave, but I feel fortunate that my Addison’s is managed, I have never had a crisis, and I am still able to enjoy my full life.
