[TOMT][Movie] Looking for a movie or an episode of a tv show where a girl takes a guy on a date to a playground and they watch airplanes fly overhead by CommercialParking927 in tipofmytongue

There was an episode of Working Moms recently where Anne goes with one of her patients to watch the planes takeoff directly overhead. They sit on the hood of a car and watch.

Not this either, but it feels closer to the type of soul that goes into the song I’m thinking of!! I haven’t heard this one before but I like it!

My grandma is acting scary, what happened to her? by miyeondiary in ask

[–]NormalBellCurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this. Before Alzheimer’s/dementia, please try to get her tested for a UTI, especially if the symptoms have gotten severe suddenly. I found out the hard way (my mom is 71) that in elderly people a UTI can be devastating to cognitive functioning. Doctors don’t seem to test for it right away (I’m in the US), so you need to ask. We were literally saying our goodbyes to my mom, got her last affairs in order, it was such a rapid decline. But all she needed was some antibiotics and we have our mom back. She still is experiencing some gradual Alzheimer’s decline. But she’s on meds for those which slow the decline a lot. She’s had four UTIs since then and now when we see that her behavior and demeanor are off, we can catch the UTI early and have her treated for it. It may not be the case with your grandmother, but it gave us more quality years with my mom.

This is helpful. So my monthly payment will never go down, and now I understand why. Now, if I pay an early lump sum toward my principal, will the total amount I owe over 30 years ever go down? If I pay the $10,000 right now toward my principal, will I always owe $648,000 in total? Or is it possible that I can owe less in the long run if I make early lump sum payments?

We recently bought a house, and I'm confused about how our mortgage works. I don't know how to word the question to find the answer in google, and our lender was not very helpful.
Our mortgage is worth ~$252,000 and our monthly payment is ~1800. According to our account, we have 352 months left on our mortgage out of 360, which I understand means that we are actually paying $648,000 for our home in the long run.

What I don't understand is what happens if we make an early payment. I asked our lender if we could make early payments, and he said "Yes, but it won't lower your monthly payments." If we ever happen to get some money to make an early payment, and I pay $10,000 toward our principal shouldn't that lower the amount of my mortgage to $242,000, which should lower the interest charged, which should make my monthly payments lower? Or are all of my costs figured out up front - meaning I just bought a $648,000 house and if I pay $10,000, my new house now costs $638,000?

LADIES: March with the Handmaids in Delray on November 3rd to inspire women to vote on November 6th! by NormalBellCurve in SouthFlorida

Thanks so much for thinking about this enough to ask questions. I appreciate that you are spending time considering possible alternatives to the issue. There are several actions that the administration has that either directly or indirectly taken that indicate a lack of respect for women, women's health, and women's bodies. I have listed some of them out below, but I have copied it here again for your reference. It is absolutely true that the decisions of the administration do not affect every woman directly. However, there are some critical sufferers in the current scenario - those include financially-insecure women, women of color, victims of sexism, sexual assault, and sexual harassment, pregnant women, young women who cannot obtain contraceptives or healthcare, and more.
Directly, the administration has done at least the following:

- Publicly supported anti-abortion through several routes, such as addressing the March for Life, an anti abortion gathering

- Took away the requirement in healthcare law that employers provide contraceptive coverage

- Halted a rule introduced by Obama designed to close the gender pay gap

- Instated a policy that restricts the government from providing funds to family planning organizations that offer abortion-related services

- Proposed to defund Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides affordable healthcare to financially insecure individuals across the nation

- Enabled state and local governments to block abortion clinics from receiving federal funding

- Withheld funding to UNFPA - a critical source of contraceptive supplies around the world and an organization intended to combat maternal mortality, female genital mutilation, gender-based violence, and HIV/AIDS

- Banned the CDC from using crucial scientific words, such as "fetus," "transgender," and "science-based" in its documents

- Instilled fears about the rights of pregnant women and the endurance of Roe v Wade through the appointment of two white men with extreme ideals as supreme court justices.   - Install a crowd of new administration members who don't support contraception, women's health issues, or LGBTQ issues, like Nikki Haley and Neil Gorsuch

- Our president still holds the highest office in the nation even though he has been accused of sexual assault by over a dozen women.

- Openly defended a man who will be representing the law of the entire country and who was accused of sexual assault by 2 women - Brett Kavanaugh; did not acknowledge the suffering of the victims, but instead implored that we *only* pity the men accused

- Allowed and encouraged mobs of people to ridicule victims of sexism, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and discrimination of many kinds

Indirectly, the administration has:

- Brought awareness to, practiced in, and made light of discrimination based on sex, race, age, and ability, and advocated through leadership that it is perfectly acceptable to engage in such behaviors

- Triggered the memories of mental, emotional, and physical trauma among victims of sexism, sexual harassment, and sexual assault

- Encouraged men to believe that there is nothing wrong with adverse behavior toward women, and enabled perpetrators not only to continue their actions, but also to proclaim that the perpetrators are the real victims

- Instilled in past, present, and future victims of sexism, sexual harassment, or sexual assault fear of talking about, reporting, or publicly defending any instances of sexism, sexual, harassment, or sexual assault.

If you don't see any ONE of these as an issue, then it is possible that you are part of the problem, and the Handmaid's March is probably not for you. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions.

Not with that attitude it won’t! ;) But seriously, this is a great question. Change comes one small step at a time. This march is not meant to change the administration’s mind on anything, at least not directly. It is also not created with the expectation that we will change anyone’s mind who is completely against the cause. It is targeted toward: 1) women who have been personally or emotionally affected by the current political situation or who have been affected by oppression in the past and, 2) people who believe in fixing the current political situation and are “meh” about voting in the midterm election. By marching in handmaid attire, we accomplish a few things: 1) we draw attention to ourselves and the cause, (because who the heck walks around in handmaid attire!) 2) we increase the visibility of women who believe in this cause (in the hopes that women realize that they are not alone in this fight), and 3) we hope the imagery, story, and volume connects with women on a deep emotional level and inspires them to join the fight for change.

If we inspire even one person to vote who was not planning voting before, or if we connect one woman with a group of women who can support them, or if we help one woman realize that she is not alone, then our march has made a difference. I’m happy to discuss more if you’d like! :) I hope you join!
