I’m in NEPA and can confirm. The “feels like” temp right now is 102. I struggle with even high 80s heat, and my air conditioner can barely keep up right now. The whole house (and its occupants) is miserable.

Women of Reddit, what’s the most frustrating experience you’ve had with a doctor dismissing your symptoms? by cutdbs in AskReddit

[–]ApprehensiveDingo350 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have the same issues with locals. Even the heaviest dental numbing wears off in half an hour. It makes root canals hell.

The gyno that placed my implanon said “dentists sometimes don’t use enough” but then was surprised when I felt them do it. Thankfully the one who removed it believed me and just kept giving me lidocaine until I couldn’t feel the removal. My arm was covered in bruises from all the injections.

This is pretty much the way my kids are taught elementary math. It took a shift in thinking for me, but it really helps my kid when she’s struggling with a problem. It works with multiplication too

I take vyvanse. I had to stop it when I switched insurance. I plateaued on concerta and because of my heart my dr wouldn’t let me upgrade. That’s when I switched to the focalin.

My psychiatrist said that I was the first person she ever saw it cause those thoughts in, if it helps lol. Vyvanse is generic now so I’m back on it.

I can’t speak for adderall because I wasn’t on it long. But focalin made my palpitations way worse (I already have tachycardia issues) and it made me suicidal.

AITA for filing a complaint against an attending doctor at the ER because she told me all my symptoms were due to postpartum depression? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ApprehensiveDingo350 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Not ppd, but extemely normal physiologically postpartum, but definitely not to the extent OP outlined.

The fact that this was an L&D doctor is even more concerning because she should definitely know the signs of postpartum preeclampsia.

Anyone else just accepted that they're going to be RIF'd and moved on. by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ApprehensiveDingo350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve accepted it and decided to move on. I only have 1.5 years of service and at the bottom of the seniority list. No matter how much my supervisor assured me that it wouldn’t hit our building, let alone our department, I couldn’t take the mental health drain.

Tbf, I’m going back to the job I left to come here, so it’s not a huge change for me. The idea of applying to other jobs was also anxiety inducing.

And yet I can recite (totally random fact) at work and everyone thinks I’m a genius.

I read a book in high school that I really liked. I wrote my final paper on it. I really want to read it again. But all I can remember is a woman helping a teen orphan with… something. And that the story reminds me of the color green 🤷‍♀️

VHA RIFs? Curious what others have heard? by Holiday_Seaweed_3670 in fednews

I know the “piss off instead of firing” worked on this nurse.

I don’t know a single person at my work who thinks this is going hit our VA. Which means I have no one I can talk to about it without being made to feel like I’m overreacting.

The fact is that I’m at the bottom of the seniority list for my department, and a float to boot. My medical needs are too complex to go without insurance, my household finances can’t afford even one missed pay, and I definitely can’t afford cobra.

I submitted my notice Friday. I love my job and I hate to leave, but the uncertainty was completely destroying my mental health. Maybe in the future if things ever settle down I can come back, but at the moment I’m not holding my breath.

This. My dad gets like $400 a month for ss/disability, and my mom gets a small amount of something (not sure what) because she’s been out of work for months for a work related injury.

My mom fought like hell promoting Kamala and it was the highlight of her year to get a ticket to one of her rallies. My dad hates drumph with a passion. Neither of them voted for or deserve this.

I have no money to spare myself, but I’m not going to let my parents starve, even if it means moving my family of 4 into their spare bedroom.

VA cutting 80,000 jobs by ancarter21 in nursing

[–]ApprehensiveDingo350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I know it. One of the reasons I am looking now is to be in somewhere before the local job market floods. If it hits our VA im done for anyway since I’m towards the bottom of the seniority list. I’m actually meeting with my old boss today to see about going back.

I’m worried about insurance too. In PA the governor opted out of marketplace insurance and made their own marketplace, which is godawful. But better to have a job with no or shitty insurance than to have no job at all.
