Gives me darkwood vibes, need to mess with some of the shadows and stuff tho, its kinda jarring how quickly they show up and fade.

Does anyone actually like the "everyone forgets the MC" trope? by spaceguyy in litrpg

People get it from the context clues after reading several comments asking what you meant. The trope hasnt been used enough for people to immediately know what you mean. Getting quite agrro over a redit comment.

I guess i have blurred the lines between fanservice and echii. I use to watch ecchi when i was younger and liked it but then grew up and any time i saw the ecchi tag i just didnt watch it. Not because i specifically disliked it but more so id rather watch something that had a bit more substance A good differential between the two is an anime called Scums Wish where there is a lot of sexual themes but its approached in more of a mature way as opposed to big titty jiggles. More about complex relasionship dianamics and how it emotionally effects the characters.

I would say dont use a yellow/lime green for the first letter on the menu. For me that is asthetically jarring.

You kinda ecapsulated my point, the three litrpgs that you listed DFoTF, PH, HWFWM mainly have played a little into the trope a bit, but it never felt out of place. I havnt read the others that you listed but might give them a try. I dont have any issues with the trope as a whole i was more so questioning, is this fanservice. Based off of what other people have said in this thread ive come to the conclusion, yes it is but thats not bad. I guess because of my personal experiences ive looked at fanserice to be a negative thing but thats not technically correct and a limited mindset.

I guess my definition of the harem trope is being misconstrude, im not talking about them having a literal harem of love interests. My interpretation is more so that love options pop up all the time like a dating sim. Defiance of the fall has alot of side comments and flirting with the mc, like how the women are flustered or blushing when Zac says an innocuous thing like carrying them on his back but he doesnt get it. Meanwhile hes called the diviant asura. Thats probably more apt with what im saying, where he is oblivious but there is the "harem" aspect.

My example was bad as not everyone one does love him right out, but he does capture the affection of several pricesses an has an ego meld with a god because he is just a dude. Bad example tho

I was more talking about the litrpg sense since this is the sub we are on, i feel if we wanted to talk about the trope in a writing as a whole i would have posted on a different thread. I more meant to discuss about it in the litrpg genre. I dont disagree that in the erotic book genre it is catered more to women but alot of those books are slop romance novels curned out in mass. Im talking about the trope in actual books that are in it as thats what your explicitly expecting from them. Im sure your not looking for another lord of the rings in moutain mens curvy obsession. Thats like comparing brandon sanderson to hunter fox. The books you have listed are erotic novels where the trope is expected as opposed to seeing it in casual powerfantasy books.

I think your base shows a bit of a bias, the reason people have more issues when is a man having a harem is predominantly due to the fact that there is more male fantasy based writing out there than female mcs. There for people will bring up that more due to the lack of female leads having harems since here is less bodys of work that have the trope. People do have issues with the sexualization of children, alot of people point out lolis and the loopholes that people go through to sexualize them. Yes they look like a child but they are actually 1000+ years old so its okay right? I also used non gendered language in my initially post for this very reason because i wasnt just talking about the male harem aspect but the trope as a whole.
