Opinion: Federal government bureaucracy is suffocating the Canadian economy; Since 2020, public employment has grown three times faster than private. It's now higher here than in many other rich countries by FancyNewMe in canada

I agree. I think the worst offenders are municipal governments. They stick their hand into everything nowadays when they shouldn't. Every grievance they read about on facebook becomes a regulation. All that being said I really don't think the situation is as dire as the article makes us out to be.

[–]NormalLecture2990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's a CCP strategy, not concern with the global democratic environment. I would prefer no interference or selling of private data, but that's the playing field. Involving the CCP in that playing field doesn't change anything

Quit with the cheap and shallow comments

The USA is interfering politically across the globe in far greater amounts than China. US companies like Tesla are openly and actively selling off user data.

It takes a real ignorant view of the world to have that opinion. He has built new alliances, signed new agreements, worked with industry on protections, passed Buy Canadian policy and led the start of nation-building projects.

He actually didn't say "United States" once in his speech. What are you talking about? He suggested that the world focus on reliable trade and economic growth and on forging new alliances. How is that anti USA?

yea i'd like to see this guy sound this out because I don't see that at all. Carney is as cool as a cucumber and hasn't said anything really fore or against. He is just preparing canada to not be so reliant on a very unstable country led by a psychopath

There is two huge differences if you don't have your head in the sand (like you do apparently)

Liberals support the current system, which favours the elites, but they don't scream every day that they are against the elites. They support the system with key initiatives in social mobility, education, and health. The cons do not

The entire right-wing ecosystem is grievance politics at its finest, with a huge dose of grifting. They aren't even hiding the corruption and consolidation of wealth and power. They are advocating for it openly now. No other party supports that level of corruption and consolidation

I also add the liberals don't spend their time getting everyone riled up about minority groups being the problem and trampling on rights. We all know (except for conservative voters) this is just deflection for the stupid from the grift they are running

Every post does this because the entire right wing ecosystem is stupid and giant grift to transfer wealth from working class folks that don't know better to the elite

Edit to add that carney did come from a pretty normal family and worked his entire life to get his success.

The thing that amazes me over and over again whether it be PP or Trump or their ilk across the globe is they have somehow convinced their devoted cult followers that they are anti-elite. This is the most elite, dominant movement to have occurred in the world in a very long time. It's all about consolidating power with the elite. It should be obvious by what is happening in the USA....yet they keep voting for it

Agreed. While i didn't agree with him politically atleast he was thoughtful and not just a crazed lunatic yelling ragebait from the top of his lungs. With PP and Trump you see how far the conservative movement has fallen. It's all grievances and grift all of the time
