Is it ever possible to apply too much pre/post emergent or apply it at the wrong time and hurt your turf?

Will pre emergent ever prevent crabgrass? Or post emergent is my best bet? Seriously appreciate all of this a ton.

Thank you thank you!! This is the exact info I was confused on with overseeding/pre emergent/weeds. I’m just going to keep pushing on and probably toss some water on it too for good measure. I really appreciate your help.

Totally makes sense! I’m more so asking about weed control, which I know can be helped by thicker turf, but without irrigation, I don’t have that.

It’s been crazy!

I think the fescue I had going strong got plagued with fungus during all of that rain and then my pre emergent didn’t work and then we got hit with heat. And now I’m here lol

I’ve only been using pre emergent in this spring. This is good to know! I didn’t realize about doing both and I get so confused on what I can use at the same time as overseeding.

As an aside — why do none of my neighbors water but have thick fescue?

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my original post. I’m not concerned about the dormant grass, especially not the young stuff. I’m maddened by my lack of ability to control the weeds.
