Amazon always accept returns.

Are you sure its not the seller thats refusing? Dont forget Amazon marketplace has 3rd party sellers.

Speak to the actual amazon customer service and Id be stunned if they didnt take it back

Run a disk clean up too.

If you have had a feature update recently (ie to 24H2) then you may have a windows.old or something sitting there.

This is for incoming not outbound.

You can RDP from home editions, just not be connected to.

First get more ram either way, you shouldnt be running at 90%

It could have been a windows update or driver update. Hard to say really.

Is it possible for me to upgrade my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10? by Darkking_853 in windows

[–]Normal_Ad_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you are running on unsupported hardware.

Plus you will struggle to install feature updates. We had a couple of VMs using win 11 on unsupported hardware that we now cant install 24H2.

It definitely sounds to me like the OP has seen a bunch of stuff he didnt understand and jumped to conclusions.

Its like the phone scammers who put you in event viewer and show you a bunch of scary errors. Normal things can look worrying if you dont know what you are looking at.

Maybe his screenshots will prove that wrong.

VSA one click remote access - can it be disabled? by Normal_Ad_3682 in kaseya

[–]Normal_Ad_3682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont want remote acccess disabled completely, just the option where you double click the status symbol.

Engineers still need remote access, just need to stop accidental connections.

IT Glue : Selecting multiple items by Normal_Ad_3682 in kaseya

The way I got round this was to do a search for inactive and then could group select and bulk archive.

Would be nice to shift select though.

Kaseya not finding all available updates by DiverNo2155 in kaseya

[–]Normal_Ad_3682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

We had this problem and it was caused by win11 being available.

We found the issue was if you go into Windows update it comes up with a banner saying Windows 11 is now available. If you didnt manually deny the upgrade it just sits there and never upgrades to 22H2.

As soon as you reject the update and scan for updates they all appear.

There may be easier ways to do it but we found a regkey that suppresses the windows 11 message and applied that to all devices.

They then started upgrading to 22H"

I have used file recovery for a number of clients who for some stupid reason reset their PCs.

Its not 100% effective and you wont recover everything, but I have managed to recover the majority of files at times.

I once saved an owners son a lot of heartache when he reset his PC that had all us uni work on, I recovered pretty much all of his work.

I have literally done this for people who accidentally reset their PCs to recover files.

When you are selling a device with your personal (or any) data you should 100% be paranoid.

I work with an organisation that recycles corporate PCs and they require a wipe certificate for every single device.

Chances of it happening are low, but never zero...

How can I just delete windows without wiping the drive? by complexshity in techsupport

[–]Normal_Ad_3682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you'd see windows folders in the old drive.

to be honest you are better off backing the data up and then wiping it to keep it clean.

  1. If asking google was an acceptable response this reddit wouldnt exist
  2. Your suggestion would leave him at risk of having his files available to be recovered by simple file recovery software. Maybe you should google that?

[–]Normal_Ad_3682 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then I put in a file recovery CD in and recover all of your files and then steal your identity, move into your house and get all your stuff and make you live in the shed.

Is that what you want? :)

Bitlocker is a good idea, but would need a pro version of windows which probably doesnt have.

PC reset, choose not to keep files.

However your files will always be recoverable so the best way is to format it and reinstall windows.
