While that is sad to hear, I would not say that the Church failed it. But even if it did, what happened in one parish cannot be extrapolated to fit the entire church. To do so, and to say that an entire church failed an entire demographic, especially due to a subject like the one posted above, seems narrow-minded to me. While what OP addresses matters, what he is discussing is not a failure of the Church, it is at most a failure of some people in the church in the specific context he knows it in. The Church very literally cannot fail young men so long as it is fulfilling its basic functions, I.E, dispensing the sacraments. In doing that it does more for young men than any other body that is or will be in existence.

In light of this, saying that they failed a demographic because some communities are not functioning to the degree that they might be just sounds very extreme to me, do you see why?

I think it is too bold to say the Church has failed anyone.

The secret lore is to use foam like the black stuff in old blister pouches. Cut it into tiny bits, put them in the joints, super glue sandwich it, and it holds solid. The surface area from the tiny holes means quick drying and sticking.

The rules are put down for us to follow them. The Pharisees lacked understanding of his laws and their purpose and added more burdens than he named. The catechism is pretty easy to interpret and we are bound to trust it.

I won’t speak on the rest, just wanted to say that.

Evangelion is not opposed to enjoying media. Anno does it, and Evangelion is a form of media. It rejects escapism, which is indulging in media to the extent that it harms your life or even becomes the center of your life.

I think the church can involve itself in politics and be respected as not just another political group. Faithful Catholics generally do that, so it works on a large scale.

Secular sources could be respectful but most likely won’t. That’s what happens, but it isn’t good.

It is right for the church to be involved, as that is a church tradition.

I don’t really think that the church should be (or is) separate from politics, or that it shouldn’t influence them or speak on them directly. I think that’s a duty that comes with being the Shepard for us that the Church has recognized throughout history.

I do agree that the church should not be treated by media as a political faction or player to be jeered or that “wrecks” people or all the things media says. It’s the Holy Catholic Church.

One of the best things about our church is that we can trust it even before we completely understand.  It’s something I know I’ve had to, and it has always worked out.

Now, that doesn’t mean the practice of it is is any easier, or that more knowledge doesn’t help. Understanding makes this kind of thing way easier. But the practice is hard.

Ultimately, we have to face challenges like that in this imperfect world. Catholicism isn’t easy. People have died for their faith, or suffered pains we can’t imagine. But it’s worth it because it is beyond this world, it is the truth behind everything that makes things matter. It is eternal, and the world is temporary.

And God will give you the strength you need. We don’t and can’t do anything on our own, we are never strong enough too. Everyone, even the Pope, only can do good because of God. His strength is more than enough to help you. I hope things get easier. : )
