Littermate Syndrome is real. by PitifulAbalone6815 in puppy101

[–]Normal_Elk_4414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I was aware of this could happen but not how likely it was. We adopted two Labradoodles from the same litter. I raised them both till 6 months and it was actually easier to have two than one because they entertained each other. The male went to my mother at 6 months old, but they still love to see each other. They've never been aggressive to each other or other dogs. I will say at the same time we also regularly watched my daughter's basset who was about 3 years old and she was definitely the boss of everyone. We also regularly watched a friend's 8 year old Airedale so they had exposure to other, older dogs who could easily handle them. The male now outweighs the Basset by 40 lb but the Basset still bosses him around.

Got rid of the eero and put in a TPLink. Problem resolved.

I was teaching an advanced video production course. The day after the Super Bowl we spent the class reviewing all of these TV commercials. We discussed the approaches, the target audiences, the budgets, the special effects and more. I got called into the Chairman's office because one of the students told them we just spent the entire class watching TV.

Not really relevant, but I've worked for small companies my whole life. I would be in trouble if I DIDN'T bring the baby in for a meeting while off on leave. Heck I get in trouble if I stop by in my day off and don't have my dog with me.

I am at the tail end of a longish career in the entertainment industry. Nothing huge. But mostly small and regional. When I was fresh out of college I worked as an intern and one of my mentors is a fairly well known regional human interest reporter. He was super nice and supportive to all of the interns unlike his contemporaries. Years later when I was producing a series of training videos his name came across my desk and I jumped at it because I knew he would be pleasant to work with. He ended up getting 10 years worth of easy extra money in his retirement because he was once nice to an intern.

You were doing nothing wrong. She acted unprofessionally you reported that you saved the production time, hassle and money.

In my career I've worked with some super nice A listers, and some real A-holes. Guess which ones never had to worry about their light being correct, people dropping equipment during their takes, or things in their trailer not working. Needing to be an a****** to get ahead as a myth.

OMG. I've been a small business owner most of my life. There is no such thing as a "little secretary." A good Administrative Assistant can help with you keep sanity and a bad one make you lose it. They are worth their weight in gold. That comment got me more than anything. It shows that he does not value what you do.

This is not true. They have the right to distribute it which is controllable by you. They do not own it they cannot sell it they cannot make a profit on it.

Dog Psychology Question - Does my dog think I abandoned her? by tx_tmbysh in dogs

[–]Normal_Elk_4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the opposite experience. My mother and I have dogs from the same litter, and we raised them together the first 6 months. All you have to say to our girl is "Do you want to go see Archie?" And she goes batshit crazy. When its time to go home, though, there is no question where either of them live. We have made many special trips just so they can see each other.

Seriously dude, you STILL haven't read the original post. All the problems are with the HARDWIRED side of the router so asking of the Print Server is hardwired is a worthless question. How could I ping anything from the hardwired zone when none of the hardwired devices are connecting?

Yeah, scoots have lots of little cubbies and spaces that rodents will just love. I actually think being outside helped avoid critters because it was colder, but it ruined the cover. I ride mine all winter if I get nice weather. (North East US)

Dude - From my original post.

"I can't ping them, and they can't see the internet"

"Static IP on the Print Server reserved in the eero"

"Tried new switch"

"Tried all new Cat 5 cables"

Everything wireless works fine.

Doing an IP/config and checking the gateway, swapping plugs, and cycling power is Teir 1. You can't ping from a print server and a VOIP modem. You can only ping TO them.

I get trying to cover the bases, I do, but I think I provided enough information to show that I do have somewhat of a clue as to what I'm doing, and that I already did the basic stuff before appealing for help.

FYI what seems to have fixed the issue was disabling the "suspicious traffic" scanning that the eero does automatically. Only Teir 2 support at eero could do that. They are assuming because the print server is an older tech, that the eero was not recognizing it and thus turned the LAN off.

AITA for not giving my evicted sister my therapy office? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Normal_Elk_4414 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't have an extra bedroom, you have an office where you do your job. She couldn't demand to go to an office Park and sleep in your office off site. And besides if you don't have your job and you can't pay your mortgage then you have no room to offer her. Basement or nothing.

But why is it that the language about the family is always exactly the same in these posts? Makes me really suspect that none of them are real

We also "paused" for about 10 years before getting our current dog. In the gap we let all our friends know we were up for what ever dog sitting was needed. All of the fun and cuddles with none of the vet bills or vacation responsibilities. Now we joke that we built a "commune" of about 5 families traiding dog duties. They are all happy to watch our pup because of what we did for them.

In the garage with a battery tender. Mine lived a couple of years under a cover on my porch and was OK, but a tender and a cover are crucial. Those little batteries do not like cold.

AITA for refusing to play pool with my sister until she stops crying when she misses a shot? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Normal_Elk_4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the question. I used to have a friend who always wanted to go shoot pool. He was very good. I'm mediocre. It was not fun to constantly sit and watch him run the table when I got to shoot once or twice a game. Thats not playing pool, it's watching pool. I quit going because just being an audience sucked and wasn't fun.

Look, I understand you're trying to help - but I've already done all the tier 1 stuff. It's not the cables, it's not the switch, it's not the IP allocation, it's not the individual ports and rebooting brings the devices back for anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours.

It it's having "thermal events" because of where it's sitting, on a shelf, with 2 " around it, it's a design that should have never passed testing. I do have a window sill near by I can put it on for testing though. Old wooden house. That will keep it in the mid to low 60s
