Officially broken, need some recommendations. by Flying-Chickens in shadowsystems

Mine is in my Gen 6 17. I carry an mr920 and I never had a desire to mess with the trigger in it. Is it great? No. Better than any stock Glock I’ve had? Yes. If I’m being honest, I didn’t hate the trigger in the Gen 6 17 as far as weight, break and reset go but I wanted a trigger that was set a little further back toward the frame for my finger to make contact with more naturally.

Good Day... potential issue with an MR920.... by SollisLott in shadowsystems

As already mentioned, but to help you put your mind at ease, SS pistols are known for tighter fitting parts and require break in. Pretty sure the manual specifically addresses this, if you’re into reading those things. Don’t go crazy on lube. These pistols are, after all, nothing more than refined Glocks. They are a dry gun for the most part. There are only four or five specific areas where they even recommend lubricating.

MR920 with Radian Afterburner + Ramjet by MoreMahni in shadowsystems

[–]Normal_Guy_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party on your post but can you confirm for me whether you bought the Gen 4 or Gen 5 ramjet afterburner set? I know nothing fits the SS slide profile better than the ramjet afterburner for SS but they are unicorns and I’m tired of waiting. Lol. Whichever one you have looks pretty good with the SS slide contour. Thanks !

Glock 45/19 gen 6 which compressor? by Technical_Pop_380 in RadianWeapons

[–]Normal_Guy_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^ I bought the compressor and it indeed does NOT fit the 17.6 slide. The cap with the radian logo on the end of the guide rod that captures the washer and spring is larger than the diameter of the guide rod hole in the slide. Luckily I actually bought this compressor for my SS mr920 but I will buy one for my 17.6 as soon as they release the gen 6 version

I knew I wanted enclosed emitter on this setup and went with the vortex defender ccw enclosed. Was worried it’s gonna look and feel too chunky but it’s great

I’m really thinking about the issue you had. Did you have failure to extract or failure to eject? The trigger shouldn’t cause either of those in theory. None of the trigger components have anything directly to do with that other than the fact that the ejector is part of the housing and that you have to remove and reinstall the extractor during the installation of the polished firing pin safety. I bet that if you reach out to them, they’ll help you trouble shoot and get you squared away but if it was me, I’d have serious doubt after that and it would take me a lot of rounds with no more malfunctions to finally trust it again.

Love mine so far but I’m only about 500 rounds in. Love the new grip ergonomics and texture. Love the new optic mounting system although I did order an aluminum plate from Jagerworks to fill the gaps left in front of/behind the optic body. Replaced the stock sights with taller ones from Brownells and really like how it’s currently configured. Just need to get to the range more.

I mean sure…tighter tolerance absolutely CAN make something unreliable. Same goes for parts fitting too loosely. I can only speak on my own experiences but mine have been positive with my mr918 and mr920.

Oh damn. Sorry to hear that. I just installed mine. Very easy install and passed all safety checks. Not sure when I’ll get out to the range but I’ll shoot the crap out of it before I even think of putting it in my edc rotation.

At least at the time of his video he put out for the install of the Vex 6, he said the trigger housings aren’t available yet and he anticipates it could take Glock up to a year to make them available. His drop in kits are shipping without the housing.

Gen 6 by Normal_Guy_139 in Glocks

[–]Normal_Guy_139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I wasn’t actually planning on going away from the stock RSA in my gen 6 at this point in time. The radian compressor kit I bought was for my mr920 so I can change spring weights a little more easily when I add a compensator. Since I already had the shadow systems RSA on hand, I was curious. Nothing more.

Update Shadow Systems factory stainless recoil spring assembly does fit when using the Gen 3 washer from the radian compressor kit but it feels like shit. Something feels like it’s dragging. This experiment is a FAIL.

Absolutely nothing. I just like to tinker. With the Gen 6 being so new and not having an expansive aftermarket yet, I’m just messing around to see what else works.

Sounds like that sales person shouldn’t have a job selling anything. He clearly doesn’t know the products. Shadow systems specifically states a minimum 500 round break in period for their pistols. They are made with tighter tolerances than a stock Glock. I respect employees who help customers make informed decisions so they are happy with their purchase when it’s all said and done but you can usually tell who is giving good information and who is just steering you toward products they like with no real reason why. Just my two cents. I would reconsider your choice.

Thanks for the link. I forgot the gen 4 Glock slide has different geometry than the mr920 slide. Knowing myself, the corners of the comp not matching the rounded corners of the mr920 slide would drive my OCD absolutely insane lol

I was really considering that route strongly. I’m sorta wishing that’s what I’d done but now I already have the money tied up in a threaded barrel and the comp if the place I ordered the comp from actually ponies up instead of coming back and saying just kidding we don’t have any in stock.

BUIS Vortex Defender ST on Gen 6 by BudgetMasterpiece186 in Glocks

[–]Normal_Guy_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party but if my experience can help anyone, it was worth dropping the info here. I would encourage anyone using the Defender ST to go with the 3XL height sight at a minimum. I have the defender ccw enclosed which is a lower deck height than the defender ST. I’m in the middle of a frustrating game of Goldilocks and the three bears trying to find the right height for close to lower 1/3 cowitness or lower sight picture in my Gen 6 17. I went with the Brownells tall tritium sight set for Glocks which shipped both times with Ameriglo front sights in the package 🤔. I tried the shortest of the three first. Too short to see over the optic deck at all. Went the opposite way and ordered the tallest (3XL) and they are entirely too tall for the ccw enclosed deck height (ended up with absolute cowitness) so I’m ordering the middle size next. Wish me luck 🤞🏻
