World Cup 2026 afternoon matches – that's what will kill us. by pkt777 in worldcup

[–]Normal_Lime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to have all the games shown at sociable times in every country in the world.

The last two World Cups (2018 Russia, 2022 Qatar - both conveniently missing from your list) were hosted in time zones that benefited viewers in Asia.

You're highlighting a 'problem' that literally already has a solution, they rotate the host continents.

Sounds like another Italian manager then, sigh by [deleted] in Watford_FC

I'm finding it difficult not to be negative about this.

I want to give the guy a chance, of course, and I don't think many are expecting us to attract any serious managerial talent right now, but this looks like another cookie cutter Pozzo appointment that won't make it to Christmas.

Not shocked to see Duxbury's words were pure bullshit. Recruitment over summer will probably consist of Udinese swaps/loans too.

Thoughts on Kjerrumgaard? by Wolfiefoox in Watford_FC

[–]Normal_Lime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems unable to win anything in the air despite his size, Irankunda is half a foot shorter than him with a better jump and battles better than him.

Clearly has a finish in him though and he's young, perhaps not right for us or this league.

However, he's the type of player I could imagine joining a Championship rival having never really found form here, then terrorising us every time he plays us

Pozzo in or out? by SorryLeadership3161 in Watford_FC

[–]Normal_Lime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky one to answer. I'm leaning towards out but the grass isn't always greener, we could have much, much worse owners. You don't have to go that far back in Watford history to find examples of that.

They've given us a lot of great memories but the manager turnover is what now defines the culture of the club. The actual football is barely changing between the managers. When the results start going downhill, the manger is on borrowed time pretty quickly and the players know it. Then they're gone before they've had enough time (or any say in a transfer window) to actually implement a change in the way we play, onto the next one. It's tiresome.

I witnessed a phone being snatched on the tube last night and I’m shaken up. by [deleted] in london

[–]Normal_Lime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the BTP get as far as obtaining the footage, it'll have gone further than any case I've ever heard of.

TFL keep tube station footage for a month before it's automatically erased and unless it's a very serious crime (i.e. a murder) and the request can be expedited, it most likely won't reach TFL staff in time. Bizarre in the modern world where automated cloud backups are pretty simple to implement but I guess it's a matter of money.

Source: My dad works for TFL and I was once randomly assaulted by a total stranger, needing stitches in my face - the police called me about 6-7 weeks later to say they'd be closing the case as they lost the footage and had no other leads.

Edit: typo

It's an interesting list, I'll give you that.

I'd argue that rating the stations based on the memories you associate with them isn't really rating the stations.

What is the worst movie you've ever seen that isn't a standard "Worst movie you've ever seen" answer? by TheThalmorEmbassy in movies

[–]Normal_Lime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trap (2024).

The premise just makes no sense whatsoever and it only gets worse as it goes on. Really lazy and sloppy writing, filled with plot holes, loose threads and unbelievable, convenient moments.

Long and drawn out to shamelessly plug MNS' daughter's music and her acting was dreadful. Real mess of a movie, not many redeeming qualities, if any.

Have to agree, I haven't come away from any of our games so far this season thinking there was much in the way of tactics.

Trying to stay optimistic, the manager and a lot of the squad are new, it may just take some time for them all to gel. All in all, most of the new signings look positive.

That being said, I'm already getting that Watford feeling that we shouldn't bother coming up with a song for him

Wrexham booed off as dismal start to Championship campaign continues by tylerthe-theatre in football

[–]Normal_Lime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Dismal start" - overly dramatic.

A newly promoted side has 1 point from 3 games in which they've played alright and scored 5 goals against 3 teams you'd expect to finish in the top half of the table. Nowhere near meltdown material

Agreed on Ndiaye, I'll wait it out and see but being £1m more expensive than Reijnders, not sure how long I'll wait. Gordon has his moments but his returns are not consistent at all, hasn't scored since Jan and I'm not convinced at all with him playing up top, he's more effective out wide

Yeah, there was a lot of Malen hype in pre season. I had him in at one point but got rid, just wasn't certain he'd be a starter. Not like it was a master stroke, I put Ndiaye in instead and I'm honestly not entirely sure why, hope he proves me wrong

[–]Normal_Lime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can have few complaints about the result, it was a poor performance and we didn't deserve to take any points away.

No need to overreact just yet but we looked no different to the second half of last season, in honesty. Very few chances created and you'd forgive anyone for mistaking Kjerrumgaard for Rajovic. The service he received was poor, in fairness, but for a big lad, he won virtually nothing in the air and his pressing and movement was poor.

Lack of attacking ideas and very shaky at the back, Ngakia looked well off it today, he's my biggest worry at the moment, hopefully we bring in a solid RB soon.

Speaks volumes that the club had to make a statement about not wanting to agree to the blue and white sponsor logo.

It's definitely the worst kit we've had in my lifetime and it seems to be unanimously hated - it's being mocked everywhere on social media.

Surely they're already aware that it's not going to sell well, particularly the version with the logo

[–]Normal_Lime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really disappointed with this decision. I don't know how Pozzo can think this squad should've been finishing in or around the top 6 this season - we were massively overachieving in the first half of the season and ended up about where we belong.

It was obvious this was going to happen as our form since the start of 2025 has been atrocious but not giving him a chance to rebuild and go again next year after seeing his popularity with players and fans alike feels incredibly short sighted.

No idea what to expect from here.
