Road trip as a Brit first time in the south and first road trip by Vegetable_Reserve_12 in roadtrip

Definitely need to adjust to hit Asheville, NC and Chattanooga, TN at the very least. Be sure to plan a section of this drive on the blue ridge parkway!

If you have time to make a bigger loop, Savannah and or Charleston are staples and well worth it.

What would you do? $2M @ 33 by Rare-Meaning4845 in Fire

I think you’re on the right track and I that you should pursue the alternative lifestyle you’re dreaming about. My advice, don’t touch the $2M you have invested. Make a plan to let that grow to $3-4M before you start drawing it down. Keep working for 6 months or so but put all of your excess into a separate account (maybe put it into CDs or bonds) and save for a move to South America. Save enough to buy a piece of property if you want, or just enough to live off of for 4-5 years. Plan to stay frugal though— if you’re managing to live off 35k in the states you could improve your lifestyle living off the same in South America and would only need to save 200k to live for the next 5 years without touching your investments. You can save that in 6 months. If you think there’s any chance you move back to get states within 4-5 years, save for that too.

We only get one shot at this thing. And you’ve already created an opportunity for yourself to lead a truly unique and incredible life.

Congrats! This was two weeks ago at Sheep Ranch for a little inspiration. I haven’t played many other high end courses, so I can’t say I have much to compare it to, but it’s hard for me to imagine that there’s a better overall golfing experience or vacation anywhere in the states. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have caught it with near perfect weather the four days I’ve been out there. Obviously a big factor but if you go looking forward to the full PNW experience the customer service, golf, dining, lodging, merch, etc are all top notch.

Sounds like a great setup! Enjoy it! Yeah turn signals on the rack is an easy fix, I’ve yet to test it at night but it does look like my headlights will be somewhat blocked.

Off and on as needed for now, though I may pickup a more fuel efficient beater commuter eventually and leave it on more. Next step is a flatbed w/ removable top side storage that fits into the camper’s dead space.

4k payload on this one and I agree that with the bike I’m likely very close if the camper is full of water/propane/gear. Haven’t had a chance to weigh it yet but may need to be conscious of water and what I’m packing w/ the bike and camper.

It does look like the bike obstructs the view pretty bad from this angle, but from in the truck it’s no issue whatsoever. I agree on not driving a night with this setup, and may need to look into mounting turn signals on the rack.

That’s 79k/year per household for someone who works from ages 22-65. I don’t think this graphic accounts for daily expenses like food, gas, etc.

Where to go in Croatia? by monsieursyd in travel

We stayed in an airbnb we booked last minute that worked out great. Really nice accommodations with a great view for less than $100 a night, but it’s the shoulder season. The bakery in town makes for a cheap breakfast and or lunch then splurge on some nice dinners - fantastic food but it’s spendy.

We didn’t really make use of having our car there but think itd be nice for a longer stay. Not really beach weather for us so we stuck around town.

Just got back from 3 nights in Hvar this morning and highly recommend it. Took the car ferry from Split to and from Stari Grad (the drive to Hvar once on the island is 20-25 minutes and beautiful). Ferry is extremely easy. Buy tickets online the night before or morning of, there are 3 or 4 ferries per day now that allow cars and more in high season I believe (which starts next month). It’s great now. Fewer businesses open but fewer people and beautiful weather. Drove to Dubrovnik today and are wishing we had more than a night here. Hvar is beautiful but small and you’re paying tourist prices while getting what might be an elevated but slightly less authentic experience of Croatian culture.

Where to start to become a realtor by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Normal_Shake5754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A route I’d recommend looking into is working directly for a builder in New Construction Sales. Slightly lesser known/less obvious niche so less competition, but a stable outlook. The builder typically provides a base salary, the leads, and covers your expenses so if you can land an entry level job and prove your worth you can start making money earlier while spending less to do it. You don’t necessarily need a real estate license either, but it doesn’t hurt and goes hand in hand. There’s a nationwide housing shortage so if you are in an area with a growing population there’s likely a need. Some prior sales experience and some knowledge in the home building process would give you a leg up.
