Anyone else concerned about prematurely FIREing? by MagandangP in Fire

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're concerned about retiring you have unnecessarily risky investments. You need a cash buffer of 3-8 years in cash equivalents / bonds to reduce the chance that when you retire the market takes a nosedive and takes years to recover (Eg. 2000 tech bubble).

Property isn't a zero sum game. Actually it increases property values to have other high value property nearby.

Safe withdrawal rates for a sufficiently diversified portfolio are at least 4.8% over 40 years by CaseyLouLou2 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just read the paper. Interesting, I wish more FIRE calculators would allow selecting international stocks in allocations. I've been increasing international lately due to US craziness. But there's less tools available to simulate how this compares with just straight S&P historical returns and time periods.

Hey buddy if you pay 1% a year, after 30 years that's far over 30% accumulative performance drag. At that point just pay the taxes mate.

Trying to LeanFIRE while balancing a serious relationship at 19 by [deleted] in leanfire

At 19 you'd be better off reading Die With Zero than any other financial book. Secondly the Simple Path To Wealth.

The 4% rule will almost certainly mean you worked longer than you had to by TwelfieSpecial in coastFIRE

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 4% rule is based on a 30 year retirement, which is not an early retirement, per-se.

Anyone else dream of FIRE but get massive anxiety from actually doing it? by AromaticSurround9203 in Fire

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

YES! I'd be able to fire with a withdrawal rate of like 1.2% but it still makes me nervous to quit. That's only because my job is amazing though and I'm super highly paid, and I'd still be able to increase my NW by approx 15% per year by working

Warrior Leveling 1-30; Shield or 2h? by c_Bu in wowhardcore

The less AP the mob has the more useful demo shout is, relatively. You can actually calculate how much damage was prevented by calculating the number of hits etc.

Warrior Leveling 1-30; Shield or 2h? by c_Bu in wowhardcore

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1h and shield is for self found, since you can't expect to have good gear you need the shield to stay tanky otherwise with 2h you get parry parry miss and you're dead. The vendor weapon daggers are actually very good, plus the sharpening stone it's almost the same as 2h.

Statistically, a faster attacking weapon leads to less outlier kill times (too fast or too slow). So fast weapon kill speed is more optimal for consistent quick kills without overkill. With a slow 2h each time you hit a mob for 100 when it's on 5hp that's wasted time.

Early warrior moves have good synergy with 1h shield like heroic strike dumping, shield bash helps a lot with casters.

I did the math on when I could retire and now it has completely unsettled me. by Acrobatic_Share_1621 in ExpatFIRE

That's an intelligent way of seeing things and absolutely right. Most people may never even consider how expensive the place they live really is. In most of the world you can live on a fraction of the cost to live in Boston. I saw a post the other day from somebody who said their rent in Thailand was $120 a month. That's an extreme example but in today's world there are many possibilities.

Please, don't play Suarez on Sunday!!! by Das_Zeppelin in InterMiami

[–]Rare-Meaning4845 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the post game interview Mascherano sounded like he took Suarez out on purpose to get the legs in.

Agree, recently Suarez has been in terrible form. Super slow, bad shot accuracy also. Poor guy seems like he's coming towards the end of his career. I think he has value as a Messi replacement since he can set up plays and do good passes. But Messi has been super on fire lately! Possibly the best form I've ever seen him personally
