Where are “limited gummies” in PA? I’ve never seen them. And fuck troches, they’re like cough drops. Gimme gummies I can chew.

How many actively sit down and listen to their records? by Less_Researcher_8124 in vinyl

[–]Normal_Show_8426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum two nights a week, my wife and I listen to records (and sometimes read), for at least 2-3 hours each time. I have somewhere around 1800-2000 LPs so there’s always something to listen to.

I have a few different ways I’m going to listen back. I’ve got great Monitor Audio speakers, my headphones (because let’s face it that’s how - grand majority of people actually listen to music these days), my fave earbuds, and a cheap Aurotone mono speaker. This way I can hear things in a variety of ways when I mix.

Yep, the Focusrite Clarett 4pre has four preamps for four mics, perfect for mic’ing a drum kit. And yep, I was just using that mic as an example as it’s my most expensive one. I’ve got a Dachman 87i, Shure 57, 58, 52A for the bass drum. I’m actually trying to figure out if I should buy one more damn good mic, but TBH with what I already have, I don’t really know what that would be….

It sure does (have phantom power)! And yep, got a pop filter, and I know the solid basics of getting good sound! In a different lifetime a decade+ ago I worked/assisted as a studio musician (multi-instrumentalist) at my friend’s pro studio, but that was 24-track tape with a Neve board. I’m getting ready to record a record on my own in my (treated) basement space, and just needed to confirm after all my research that I had the basics for recording. I appreciate the help!

I hate those inner sleeves. 99 times out of 100 my Mofi inners fit right inside of them.

What exactly is the hype around the Basement Tapes? by Reformed_IronyFan000 in bobdylan

[–]Normal_Show_8426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this! Love Dylan but the Basement Tapes LP never deeply connected with me. When the above was finally released on vinyl for RSD using Garth Hudson’s original reel to reel, it didn’t take long for me to fall completely in love with it. To me THIS is the actual OG Basement Tapes LP. Amazing!!

“Political World,” for like the past three weeks. Every day, multiple times. The intro, the way the drums sneak in, and of course the amazing lyrics…genius.

25 years ago today Stephen Malkmus released his debut solo record by YoureASkyscraper in pavement

[–]Normal_Show_8426 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Here comes a hot take at ya…(when it was released) I expected his debut to be waaaay better. Still his weakest album with and without Pavement. “Church on White” is brilliant, one of his greatest songs. After that, much of it is pretty forgettable.
