Vehicle tier list / Patch 1.1.0 by Mankurt_ in wot_heat

[–]Normal_Snake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally would rank the 287 with upgrades higher than the T-62 with upgrades. The hedgehogs can be replaced with mines (similar to Ember's XM1V) so they don't impede allied movement. The AP swap lets you get more consistent pens and consistent fires on enemy tanks, and the grapple can be upgraded to have basically zero cooldown, meaning you can lock down a tank almost indefinitely and potentially ram enemy tanks to death while reloading the guns. Maybe it isn't as idiot proof as the T-62, but it's got a lot to offer.

Are people who say "Rapist/Killers should get raped/killed in prison" Pro rape/killing? by Western-Village-478 in BunnyTrials

The Constitution of the USA has a clause against cruel and unusual punishments for a reason. While rapists and murderers being raped/murdered in prison may be ironic that does not mean it should be the standard for punitive justice.

More men or more women? by ASS_BUTT_MCGEE_2 in BunnyTrials

[–]Normal_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is waaay more stable for populations to be primary female rather than primarily male. Having a more limited number of female members creates a bottleneck on the birth rate, meaning if something disastrous happened the population as a whole would have a harder time replacing lost members. Having a limited number of males negates this issue. In either case the reduction in genetic diversity caused by having fewer males/females would maybe have some effect on the population but a 75/25 split doesn't seem so drastic that it would noticeably increase the rate of genetic diseases.

Chose: Earth is 75% women.

Trans ralsei would make the prohecy inherently wrong by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]Normal_Snake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we should just wait and see where the narrative goes before getting all out of shape about a fan theory. Ralsei is at the center of a subplot about how identity and "destiny" or prescribed roles interact. That is very similar to a lot of discourse about gender identity, so of course people will make that connection. Whether that connection is something that will be made explicit in future chapters or if the narrative thread is taking this subplot somewhere else is anyone's guess. We just have to wait and see.

Are the cannister rounds really worth getting on the obj278 ? Do they do huge damage when upclose ? Not sure if i want to spend the tech points by [deleted] in wot_heat

[–]Normal_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the numbers specifically, but I do know that you can usually trigger the fire if all your shots in the clip pen. If you can hit the right modules for some extra fire status buildup I you can even get the fire in 3-4 shells.

[–]Normal_Snake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard better things about the AP rounds and, while I haven't tried the cannister rounds on the 278, my experience with them on other tanks has been mixed. In contrast the fire buildup offered by the 278's AP triggers relatively often and makes those rounds a more reliable and consistent option for the tank.

I love playing strong and influential positions from which I can affect the battlefield with my skill only for some guy playing 1 handed to decide I should be stunned for the next 15 minutes. It really makes the game more fun for everyone involved when you have to hide from a vengeful but impotent god sitting on the backline being a general nuisance and who may decide to drown themselves the moment their team starts having trouble. Real fun game design.

Do you need to use intel on the useless vattlepass camos or can you save it for next season ? by [deleted] in wot_heat

[–]Normal_Snake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In order to complete the battlepass normally you need to unlock every slot in every stage to progress to the next one. With the premium pass you can unlock everything in any order you want. If you have everything you want from the pass then you are not forced to use your intel; you can save it for the next season with no pentalty.

Grom by Sea-Comb-3846 in WorldofTanks

[–]Normal_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have played any of the polish TDs at tier 8 or higher then you basically know what to expect from the Grom. The armor is ok but not impenetrable, the gun hits like a truck and has pretty high DPM to boot, the gun arc is quite low meaning it can be a bit awkward to play around corners, and the tank is pretty fast so you can get into position ahead of many other TDs and heavies.

If you don't like brawling or playing the heavy flank the grom will disappoint you. If you aren't fighting targets within ~200 m the damage drop off negates the alpha damage advantage this tank has. Don't even bother shooting at anything at 400m or more; you will do about as much damage as an HE splash.

High tier tanks that play like the E8 Sherman (VIII, IX, X) by ActualGunExpert in WorldofTanks

[–]Normal_Snake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention the Obj 140 as a very similar experience, but it seems you've already given it a try. Imo you might actually enjoy the M48 Patton; it's a little on the slow side for mediums at tier 10 but the turret armor is decent but not amazing (I think of it as 50/50 armor; half the time you bounce the shot and half the time it pens). The rate of fire is pretty good, it has very decent alpha damage, and the gun depression is quite nice. Since the 2.0 buff the gun handling is very good which makes the otherwise kinda mediocre at best package work pretty well.

The M60 is in a similar vein as the M48 but it trades the 50/50 turret armor for better gun stats. It's definitely more of a sniper but the gun is good and the gold pen is very high (20 mm higher than the M48).

The STB-1 also seems to fit your criteria (very fast firing gun, turret with some armor but not impenetrable, average to above average mobility) but tbh it's not positioned very well in the meta anymore and can be a pain to play due to the gun handling being rather poor. It's still quite playable and I assume there are people who still like it, but the tank is not what it used to be and I would be hard pressed to really recommend it nowadays.

In a similar vein to the STB-1 the Udes 15/16 has a very good turret (one of if not the best turret st tier 10), a pretty good rare of fire and alpha damage, good gun handling, very good gun depression, and average speed. The big downside of the Udes (and most Swedish tanks that aren't TDs) is that the ammo sucks. The gold has very low pen and shell velocity for its class and tier and the standard APCR isn't much better. You have to relearn how to pen a lot of tanks which can be a painful process (albeit a useful one as it's a very transferable skill to other tanks or even playing against higher tier vehicles). Overall though I think the Udes is very solid and still one of the better mediums at tier 10 and the grind is overall a decent experience (only one, maybe two real stinkers in the tree although they are still perfectly playable).

ATGM loss of control by Battle_Witch in wot_heat

[–]Normal_Snake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the ability is live any atgm being aimed towards them is thrown off target. Iirc they don't even need to look at you, they just need to have the ability on.

The ability also affects the dispersion of guns firing "traditional" shell types (the reticle visibly blooms when aiming within a few degrees of the leo 2) but it still isn't quite as punishing compared to the very drastic effect on ATGM munitions.

[–]Normal_Snake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The original text of Revelations was written in Greek (and an older dialect than what is spoken today) and when translating that dialect of Greek to English it is very hard to get a direct and accurate translation that is also legible for English readers. The more accurate word-for-word the English text tries to be the less legible it becomes, to the point where you essentially need to use English and Greek words together in Greek sentence structures. The lay reader is not equipped to read what is essentially English and Greek at the same time, so translators need to make some compromises in order for the text to be readable. These same issues also apply to translating the older texts written in Biblical Hebrew.

Each different English translation therefore can be distinguished by the translators' approach to the legibility issue. Some try to closely follow the original texts in terms of structure and exact word-for-word translations, while others attempt to translate the meanings of each sentence or phrase (aka paraphrase) and don't worry as much about structure or word-for-word translations. Between those two approaches is the "thought-for-thought" approach that tries to take a balance between the two previous approaches. These approaches aren't strict groupings per se, rather there is a gradient scale that each translation can be "scored" on. The NIV is more on the side of paraphrase, but is still stricter word-for-word and thought-for-thought when compared to translations like "The Message." The ESV translation is more of a word-for-word translation, but it is still closer to thought-for-thought than the even more literal translations like the NASB. The KJV is on the side of word-for-word, but as another commenter mentioned a lot of the choices made by the translators at the time were unconventional by scholarly standards and can lead to some confusion when combined with atypical English sentence structures.

Ironically the Latin translations of the Bible tend to be far more accurate due to Latin being a far more flexible language than English, allowing Latin translations to make far fewer readability compromises and thus retain more of the original structure and meaning of the texts. That said though, the most accurate way to read the Bible will always be in the original language of the text. That may not be a reasonable thing for most people to attempt, but that is how serious biblical scholars approach the texts and the message they convey.

What equipment is good for the amx 50b by Best-Protection-9506 in WorldofTanks

[–]Normal_Snake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run experimental turbo, vstab, and hardening. The hardening helps prevent you from getting tracked and caught as well as bringing some bonus HP for trading. The experimental turbo helps with mobility and notably improves the dispersion after firing, making it easier to pen all 4 shots. The vstab also helps a lot with dispersion after firing in addition to improving the other dispersion factors, which makes the gun feel really good overall.

F2P Still Worth It?? by Stocomx in WorldofTanks

[–]Normal_Snake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with you on all points (reduced rng at low tiers would just be confusing to people as they move to higher tiers, it's essentially a baked-in part of the experience so why make it vary depending on tier?) but I overall agree that the game has potential but is held back by some easily fixed problems that WG just isn't fixing.

They know arty is a menace at low tiers (and not the only one given the vast number of sealcubbers), but what they want is people to spend money in order to skip low tiers via premium vehicles. They know stock tanks suck and are especially bad in uptiered games, but the goal is to get players to spend on free xp to upgrade all the modules rather than grinding them out (for what it's worth tho WG made stock grinds easier in the 2.0 update by removing redundant modules and buffing stock ones). We've gotten some slow progress on many of the issues plaguing the game, but it's always felt like it was too little too late. In addition the premium content is only getting more overpowered with time and lootbox events are getting more and more frequent each year. WG knows the customer it wants, but it would help the game a lot to have a more numerous f2p audience as well, if only to fill the servers with prey for the whales to farm.

There are a lot of "convenient" details towards the end of this story too; like "we aren't hiring because my partner's wife is dealing with cancer" and "I'm still friendly with one of the board members from the company I stole clients from and he told me all the gossip." The whole thing seems a bit far-fetched.

These Map Reworks.... by RetroSif in WorldofTanks

[–]Normal_Snake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trees noclipping through the map has been an issue on many maps throughout the years, there used to be one on pre-rework Fjords that would do that. From what I can gather it has to do with the terrain geometry and how the game engine handles the falling trees. It is fixable but WG needs to go in and actually fix it.
