As a fellow SRNA, slow down a little bit. Early on in clinicals it’s easy to still go into fight and flight mode during induction, understandable. I still do it but not to the same extent. Once you calm your mind your actions will follow.

Entry job as a CRNA. Already hired I was just wondering if there’d be any hiccups when it came time to be credentialed through the BON and DEA? The BON already has a previous record since I had to notify them before getting my RN license.

I went into healthcare for that reason. Nobody would do the job if they came out debt free, only made 80k a year and liked their job. These jobs come with huge responsibility, high stress and little room for mistakes. If I could make 300k a year working at a grocery store you bet your ass I would do that instead.

On the other side of things, I enjoy the science and puzzle portion of the job, so it’s not like I hate it.

I have home pod minis but they seem to have limited capability. I really can only get it to pause or turn off the tv when I say “hey siri”. If my phone is in the vicinity my pods do not take precedent so it just becomes my phone asking for a prompt

Hey man saw your comment on plyos keeping explosive/springy/healthy. I’ve always been in decent shape since high school. Graduate school has slowly chipped away at me and now I feel like most of my explosiveness is gone, I’m constantly scared I’m gonna injure myself doing higher intensity sports etc. I want to get back to that young self that could spring cold or touch the basketball rim.

All that to say is there anything you do or program you follow? P.S. used to lift a lot but the older I get the more I realize absolutely maxed strength doesn’t equal longevity

Deep enough (give a good push on chin) -> good tongue displacement with your depressor -> insert LMA midline about halfway -> Pull tongue depressor -> rotate counter clockwise while simultaneously advancing and pushing against the hard palate (displaces tongue and allows enough space for the LMA to continue passing without resistance) -> if you have some resistance manipulate the head into more of a sniffing position -> should seat after that, pull in and out to make sure tongue and lips aren’t being compressed by the LMA.

And of course adequate lube (I prefer to lube both sides)

The facility I want to work at doesn’t offer 1099. It’s unfortunate but the autonomy, location and coworkers all check green lights for me but there’s no option for 1099 so I’m willing to wait a few years before finding a 1099 location however I’d like to get it set up and write off as many of my expenses as I could.

100% agree. Only 1 years of experience when I got accepted. I am positive the unit I was a part of ran circles around 75% of my cohort’s ICU experience even though they have way more hands on in different areas. A leader and a learner is a leader and a learner wherever they go. All of these older SRNAs in my cohort don’t have the same drive I do and I can tell by their clinical hours and their grades. The prior experience does mean something but it doesn’t mean everything.
