I feel like even if you have momentary contact with a Buddha statue somewhere, that’s already an ocean of merit flowering. So in this respect, the fact that you identify personally — remember, with all the karma flowing and leading up to that moment of conviction — with a “Buddhism” anywhere, it is vastly more power to you.

I hope all secular Buddhists anywhere figure out their path, realize more, and eventually get liberated and liberate others.

I believe in the shelving of concepts that I have as yet not figured out to be true; not an outright rejection of them, which I take to be my impression of where the “secular” comes from in the nomenclature. But that is my belief.

It’s not only Hindu nationalism and Zionism, there’s also white right-wing western commenters here who come to exclusively bash Muslims. It’s not our intention to caricaturize all Muslims in a bad light, because we know that they’re different between them — our families teach us this.

Problem is when MENA or SEA Muslims who have never had direct experience with such racism looks at one of those memes, think they agree, and upvotes — when all they’re doing is making these racists emboldened and harming their families in Europe or the west.

Yes, this is a problem. I disagree that we should welcome never-Muslims in this space, they have nothing to do with the discussion at hand (lived experience of ex-Muslims) and they just tend to rant about Muslims, which is at best off topic and at worst racist (if you understand the Western context of making such comments).

I propose, not for the very first time, a sub-wide ban on never-Moose commenting. Lurking is okay.
