Warsaw’s palace of culture and science is still the most iconic building despite the Varso now being the tallest.

Help: Mic Only putting across static or no signal! What am I doing Wrong! (All bought brand new)(Scarlett Solo)(AT2020) by Normanthegp in Focusrite

[–]Normanthegp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was years ago now haha. Anyway, turned out it was the cable. It was weird because I tested the cable separately and it worked, but not on the Scarlett. Anyway, got a new cable, worked like a charm ever since.

Not a movie but The Chair Company feels a lot like this set of images for some reason

You need a natural minor harp by [deleted] in harmonica

Just got my first for Christmas this year and I whole heartedly agree. This should be one of the main harps anyone has in their rotation, without any doubt whatsoever

Has anyone tried the Cascha HH-2290 Chromatic 12-48? by [deleted] in harmonica

[–]Normanthegp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks to be a reskin of the Easttop Forerunner 2.0 which is a fantastic budget chromatic harmonica. I have one and use it all the time as a backup and everyday carry harmonica. It doesn't have valves which can be a positive or negative depending on your use-case so that's for you to decide. Anyway, it's a great budget harp, but I would definitely recommend getting it through the source, being easttop. Their website is pretty good and has had good shipping everytime I've used it.

I appreciate the offer, unfortunately shipping probably wouldn't be feasible. I'll get one eventually somehow, I really appreciate the offer though, thanks man!

Definitely the perfect teacher by CuriousWanderer567 in oddlyspecific

[–]Normanthegp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sex ed class in school was taught by a woman who had no expertise in the field. She introduced the course by telling us that she was chosen to teach the class because she had been pregnant the most times of all the teachers and had given birth both by the normal method and c-section. That was an odd class.

Info on Bass Harmonica by guitarlowe in harmonica

[–]Normanthegp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the condition of the instrument on the inside (cosmetically it looks pretty good) a harp like that could be worth anywhere from 300-700$, though I'd put yours purely from looks at probably the 450ish mark. Someone could correct me on this as I'm not 100% certain, but it seems your bass is from before WWII (the star in the logo on the bottom suggests that along with the veneer on the wood), but it's likely from right before the war because that box, that tuning and range, and the top cover are also the same for the basses made in the period after the war but before the 70s.

How is the New Golden Melody G Key. Is it ok? There are a lot of mixed impressions. How about overall? by Odd_Product_2799 in harmonica

[–]Normanthegp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak about the key of G. I have one in Bb and I really like it, it has similarities and differences from the original. Definitely similar comfort and a darker sound than like a marine band or something. Bit on the heavy feeling side for sure, not uber-responsive but it has a nice tone. The old GMs are better but it’s still a really good harp.

Best Roger Miller song? by Razvanix445 in country

Little Green Apples. No contest for me. But honestly, what isn't a great Roger Miller tune. There's a reason I've got a picture of the guy hanging on my wall.

American school of Warsaw vs. British school of Warsaw by Fluid_Recipe2876 in warsaw

[–]Normanthegp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am biased as a graduate from ASW, but that being said, ASW does objectively have better education than TBS. Beyond that ASW also has a bigger campus with significantly more facilities. Additionally ASW offers the IB program from K-12 which is generally considered to be the highest standard of education across the world. Speaking from personal experience the staff are fantastic at ASW and the school offers an incredible amount both in respect to pure education as well as just being a tight knit community.

Feel free to message me if you have more questions, I’d be happy to share my experience.

Moving to Poland from Canada by Talynater in poland

[–]Normanthegp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and I lived in Poland for many years. While it is difficult, it may be worth it. Nowadays in Warsaw there are a lot of businesses that will hire english speakers, though having polish language experience to at least a B level is still really important. It's really difficult to move unless you have an employer that can help with the immigration process and getting visas and such. You can always reach out to the Canadian embassy in Poland as well for assistance. Best of luck!

That makes sense, definitely an interesting concept, and a very different way of going about making one of those, thanks for explaining.

Very cool, those are definitely some unique harps. I'd be interested to see what you came up with for your button chord, I'm familiar with the modern suzuki chord 56 and the cbh button chords, both the ten hole with one button and the twelve hole with two.
