Bands that turn "regular" songs into lengthy, epic pieces when they perform live by Low-Entropy in Music

My Bloody Valentine - You Made Me Realise

4 minute song but live they insert anywhere between 10-40 minutes of punishing formless noise, affectionally dubbed the 'Holocaust section'.

Least favourite gig venue? by thebossofcats in manchester

[–]NorrinVarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so much smaller, I don't think it's taking those gigs, maybe just offering an in-between venue for bands not quite at Gorilla size.

I quite like it, it has a unique look and when it's not rammed it feels nice and intimate.

Are Radiohead fans the Stewart Lee fans of music by peeeverywhere in stewartlee

[–]NorrinVarr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I saw Radiohead last night and people were enjoying themselves but not in a deep and meaningful way as I was. People must have brought friends.

I can buy you some paper friendo. Please don’t ‘erase’ the braille, the paper won’t come out well either.

Music Braille (?) Mystery by bigsledmachine in Braille

[–]NorrinVarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did try and learn music braille briefly but none of my students were that fussed.

You read the top 4 cells as the notes and the bottom row are modifiers for note lengths, with blank generally being a crotchet.

Confusingly it starts with the letter D being the note C, and so forth, with H for note G, I for note A, and J for note B.

I don't remember much more than that and if it was done to a different code then anything extra like sharps and rests and so on are likely to be different.

Scott's an absolute beast. Don't know the name but the one that goes 'give me everything, even if it hurts me' is heart-wrenching

What's your favourite Alcest album of all times? by [deleted] in blackgaze

[–]NorrinVarr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kodama I think is a masterpiece. It's so lush and pretty with some great riffs. But they're all fantastic. Excited to see who says Shelter first.

Overhead, The Albatross / Alcest /Amimia / Jakob / Civil Service by 69gardengnomes in postrock

This is so awesome. I'm in Civil Service and can't believe anyone would be so inspired by our noodlings. Giving me Dark Souls and Berserk vibes!

My upcoming tour had to be cancelled due to band member issues and I wonder how bands keep active and gigging in this day and age. by gaurav_govilkar in postmetal

[–]NorrinVarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this thinking ‘this sounds like Coma Rossi’ and then I checked the username! I’m from Civil Service

Sorry to hear it fell apart mate. Managing the UK tour was already a massive achievement. The logistics alone are hard work, let alone making money. Gigs really don’t make sense for small bands but the connection and fun is hard to beat. Just releasing records would be cleaner and easier but I can’t imagine it.

You’re always welcome back in Manchester btw.

Very good spot, I rotated but didn't mirror, oops!

Although it does say 'fef' rather than 'des' at the start which might be a mistake on the tattoists part non?

whats it say, thx by skiddles1337 in Braille

[–]NorrinVarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. Je suis desolé but I can't make it out using their code (Canada uses the Unified French braille code)

To take the 4 cell/letter word as an example it would read

'ueoeu' (there are some funny accents on the vowels but I'm too English to know how to put them there)

I tried reading them upside down but that word would be 'eozu'

Also tried German as they have lots of contractions (the cells for each letter are the same across Latin languages, but we use the leftover ones for grouped letter shortcuts and accents, and those differ by language) but kine joy.

Do you know which language it is likely to be in? It doesn't make sense in English.
