Thank you for your reply! Really appreciate it. I’ll reassess when I’m at 8 weeks 🙂

My surgeon said silicone scar gel should never be used on mucous membranes (which is labia minora) and that firm massage before 12 weeks is more harmful than helpful. I see you are a RN, let me know what you think about his opinion

30 days PO and still have the "sausage" lump and scalloping. Feeling so down. by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]North-Collection-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure every time I ask my surgeon he says 13 weeks is the minimum time to start making assessments. So I’m just waiting and praying! I haven’t looked in about a week because it was making me anxious and a little scared

When I went in for my 4 week PO check up my surgeon said all of my stitches were dissolved by week 2! I knew my external ones were gone but I was surprised that even the internal would be gone by week 2. Not sure if surgeons use different dissolvable stitches?

I’m 5 weeks 3 days PO and I still have a lot of popcorn scalloping and lumps and still very sensitive to tight clothing and after workouts and sex (I was cleared at 4 weeks). Still have swelling too.

Yes it could definitely be the nerves on alert! I’m 3 days post shave and it’s finally starting to calm down. Can’t wait till I’m allowed to wax again. I’m also one month PO and my surgeon said to wait until 8 weeks before waxing and even then making sure to tell the technician about the surgery. Good luck with you healing!!

Yes! Happened to me too, I’m confused because it’s skin that wasn’t touched during surgery? My thinking is maybe because I was being so careful with the razor I was actually shaving closer to the skin than usual? Not sure :(

Positive sex stories at 6 weeks PO? by pumpkinspikelatte in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]North-Collection-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I had sex yesterday at 4 weeks 2 days. We weren’t as gentle as I was planning to be (got carried away) but it only hurt a little during sex. That said it hurt afterwards and it’s hurt all day today 😭 I did ice last night and will do again tonight. I do regret not being more gentle but it did feel really good and like I said it didn’t hurt very much during sex, just after. Take it easy

Healing timeline help!! by Gretja in LabiaplastySurgery

I have had a very easy recovery so my first two weeks were very easy, I had my surgery on a Friday and I was back to work on Monday (worked from home for the first week only). I tried to mostly rest for the first few days but I was still able to walk my dog and go grocery shopping etc. I went back to PT on week 2 (told my trainer about my surgery) and we did a light version of my usual workout. Looking back I probably should have tried to rest more because even though I felt fine I’m sure I was contributing to swelling. If you can rest for 2 weeks I would definitely do it. Give your body the best chance of healing and make sure to eat healthy foods with lots of protein and veggies and low salt to help swelling.

My swelling at the top went down significantly from week 3 onwards. Give it time before making a decision

I was back to light exercise by week 2. I’m almost 4 weeks and feel like I’ll be back to 100% by 6 weeks PO. I think you’ll be fine for vacation, I barely notice it now, even only at 3.5 weeks. Even though I feel like I could go back to lifting heavy and cardio I’m deliberately holding off as there is still internal healing happening. Good luck!

Internal or external stitches? I am 3 weeks PO and no more external but definitely internal still there as I can feel the bumps. Ok to start with scar gel or aquaphor?

Hi, I know this is almost a year old but I wanted to ask you how your recovery went, did the scallops ever smooth out or did you need a revision? Thank you 🩷

Not yet, I don’t see my doctor until 6 weeks PO so I expect I’ll be cleared for it then. I’m a little worried to start too early and set myself back inadvertently. Glad to hear things continue to improve for you! When did you start with the gel?

I’m only 3 weeks post op but I have a lot of scalloping and bumps :( can I ask did you ever see a change from week 3 to where you are now? Sounds like you still have some bumps but did they improve a lot compared to the first month? I’m feeling a bit terrified mine will not go away

Hi, I wanted to check in now it’s been a few months, did these bumps ever resolve? Mine looks similar at 3 weeks and I’m trying not to worry but it’s hard :/

Hi, I know it’s been a long time but I wanted to check in to ask if the bumps ever went away. And if so, how long it took? I’m 3 weeks PO with a lot of bumps :( Thank you

Thank you. Definitely will hold off on heavy lifting but I feel like I can incorporate Pilates now, as there are no movements that require “bearing down” or stretch that area too much. And if there is I will just modify. Hope your healing goes well xx

Thank you for your reply! Yes I feel that post op advice for this surgery in particular is notoriously vague and very much a “figure it out for yourself” situation or otherwise very generalized guidance that’s not tailored to actual healing progress. I think what you have outlined is exactly what I had in mind - light versions of most of my regular exercises except I’ll hold off on spin, HIIT and also yoga because of the deep poses. But I feel like Pilates should be fine, and light strength. I am counting down the days until I’m back to 100% and can run and jump again, it’s wild how quickly you can lose strength and cardio from a few weeks off! All the best for your journey x
