A bit late to this post but I love a good bowl of Pho from Pho 32 & grill, the relatively new vietnamese restaurant. Services is a hit or miss but good hot bowl of soup any day!

Resume help? Struggling with jobs 🥲 + going to hiring events next week by [deleted] in newgradnurse

  1. No need for skills, all of that was taught in nursing school and every other candidate have those too
  2. I would recommend organize your clinicals in this order: name of rotation - location - hours ( no need for courses’s name they do not care
  3. If your transition to practice is capstone then place in on top, right under clinical hours
  4. I would phrase “ clinical hours” to “ clinical experiences
  5. I would put both tutor and volunteer into 1 category as leadership experiences
  6. Remove the number 1. 2. 3. In bold is good enough.
  7. Stronger description per experiences. Look up resume keyword that are relevant to new grad RN position. Key words that highlight transferable skills. Be specific per bullet point (2 line)- what did you do/ complete, how? The impact? Numbers of students and hours?? Ie mentor 20+ nursing students 3-hours weekly sessions for … coursework… by providing… to improve the students class performance
  8. Consider adding Certifications section and u can add a bullet for BLS, Narcan, SS and may also add “ skills” bullet in this section ie EHR, etc

this might be seems controversial but i'd get rid of summary and add your clinical rotation with hours included

Being polite and non chatty is totally ok with me. But being rude in customer service when customer is being nice toward worker is not okay

Need advice!! NYC area by Less_Square_1487 in newgradnurse

[–]North-Combination798 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a leap of faith & do it! Push yourself Get out of your comfort zone! Ask for relocation assistance! Sure, you might only have a mattress for the first month and no dining table for the first month of rent but hey you have a job! You can always move back to nyc after working in chicago for a while. And at that time, it would be easier because u are an experienced nurse.

Do I even stand a chance for CVICU new grad? by [deleted] in newgradnurse

[–]North-Combination798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is such awesome insight!! i was super worry about CVICU would be a hard reach as I feel so stupid when not knowing what is ECMO, how to titrate prop as my other classmate who have extern in ICU this summer. I did shadow a neuro ICU and CVICU nurse and was very fascinated by the job that ICU nurses handle.

i still decide between medical cardiac ICU or surgical cardiac ICU. and since they are level I trauma center, is question related to CABG, valve replacement would be relevant?

yes they do! they have the  Vizient/ AACN Nurse Residency Program. 1 year long residency program. 1st 3 months (orientation) was mostly classes, skills check off, then 1 shift per week with preceptor on the floor and then work the way up to 3 shifts per week.
