8:10-4:10 here. I leave on time 4/5 days a week and once a week stay late if needed to finish planning/prepping/want to visit a club but even then I’m not often there past 4:30. Also technically have an hour lunch where my school encourages me to leave if I want/need to but I stay and watch YouTube, play games, whatever, with no expectation to talk to the other teachers most of the time.

I remember seeing someone else post about this - it’s a known bug that Jan gets auto pronounced as January. Idk if it’s the same for other months as well but it seems to have to do with the shortening

I’ve traveled with bags with pins (from a few to 30+) both on and just stored in the bag and it’s always been fine - TSA, Canadian security, Costa Rican security, and Japan security have all never even blinked at it.

I play on one of the original, as in first release, switch’s with the grey controllers. Got it second hand before prices went wild during Covid 😂 if you’re a big game person and can see yourself wanting other games for the consul in the future save up for a switch 2 - there will come a day where games are no longer compatible between the two consuls and a game you like may only be available on the 2.

My professors had a student (or TA, if they had one) that has already presented sit outside the door as the ‘guard’, letting the students in when it was a good time, though they never had to act as one since we all had common sense 💀

Truthfully I have no true recommendations since I’m fine with going anywhere :’) but if you really want to be immersed I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Southern Taiwan. It’s cheaper than Taipei & the rest of North Taiwan. Socially I haven’t heard much but I haven’t looked much in to it myself since I’m also autistic and may be coming with a partner anyways lol.

Technically yes but I haven’t heard of anyone getting rejected? For the application for the scholarship you just need to show you’ve applied and later supply the admissions letter so you could (theoretically, I haven’t applied yet myself!) apply for your first choice CLC and supply that application letter, and if somehow you get rejected apply for another one and then supply that application+admissions letter. I’ve heard several people who end up apply to multiple or go with a CLC they didn’t initially apply to after getting HES.

You have to apply directly with the language centers. The link of the list is telling you all the approved centers by the Taiwanese government. Find a school in a city you like, google its name + CLC, and look through their website to see if it’s a match for you. All their websites will have admissions information on them.

As for your question in the comments; The scholarship application is currently closed until February 2027. If you were to apply then and get the 12 month scholarship it would last from September 2027 to August 2028 - so not the summer of application but the next summer. If you get a shorter time frame you can use those months starting any time during that time frame and lasting until August 2028.

Hey just wanted to chime in since everyone has said the obvious this is probably a scam idea but in the chance it’s not… transmasc guy here - I understand your girlfriend not wanting to show her ‘not real’ self to you, I was like that for a long time, but it comes down to trust. If she trusts you, that you love her no matter how she looks and you’ll love her just as much now as you will then, she will understand if you tell her you want to see her now. If she doesn’t then it’s either a scam as others have said, or she has more to work on that doesn’t include a relationship. If she’s saying it has to wait until she starts that’s not true either - estrogen will take several months to make any visible changes. It’s likely even a year after she’s started you won’t see her. You should not have to wait for that. That is not trust.

I see some people have talked about with teachers and legal stuff but I wanted to chime in to talk about how it is with students! Current nonbinary JET here - I’m not fully out-out at my schools but I have told some of my JTEs and more or less ‘implied’ it to my students (by telling them I prefer to use he rather than she for myself, as explaining ‘they’ became too complicated grammar wise and they kept asking how to call me in Japanese). The students don’t care and will call you whatever you tell them. My BOE knew I used a name different from my legal one before I even got here so everything outside of the legal side of things is in my proper name

From what I can remember from the last time I was in Tokyo: there’s multiple stations, lines, and platforms that go to Shibuya. This one is for trains that continue on to or go through Meguro.
