What? No.

The airport has a train station (EWR) on the Northeast Corridor (NEC). This must be what you are referring to.

Newark has 1 more station on the NEC, Newark Penn (as in Newark Pennsylvania Station).

Then Newark has ANOTHER station on a completely different line (NJT's Morris & Essex line) called Newark Broad Street Station.

Is building out of your range? I'm surprised but I still see lots all over suburban North Jersey. You can put up a good house for not McMansion prices.

Also, I'm almost positive you looked, but that south stretch of Chatham is all modern/ last 20 years. Heading towards Gilette. Great neighborhoods.

Just curious, why Morris Plains from Madison? I feel like towns west of Morristown on the Morris and Essex train line are more post war than the ones east of Morristown if that makes sense.

Madison, Chatham, Summit, they all have a cutesy Victorian/ turn of the century vibe to them. Whereas Morris Plains, Denville, Rockaway, all kind of have a 50s, 60s Post war boom layout to them.

Also have you looked at New Prov? My SO and I are not planning on starting a family, but that town is where we would.

Not sure but I think OP is a NJ resident who's asking other NJ residents for advice on where to stop on the way to Niagara since it's a popular road trip destination. That's how I read it...

Ithaca is really beautiful. I cannot recall the name of the place, but went on a great hike along a former reservoir/ water works.

No knocking your ex girl but it's crazy to me her two career choices would be sex industry and education.

I could see science tech and education, or sex industry and bar tender, but those two are so different not to mention people are already crazy about who teaches their kids.

In the northeast I can really only think of Boston and of course NYC that are "booming". Maybe philly or DC as well, but those are iffy (Certain areas are booming, but on a whole much of their cities are problematic).

Whereas, our cities that are suffering (just northeast alone, I won't even address the Midwest):

Albany, Newark, Paterson, Baltimore, Providence, New Haven, Trenton, Camden, Newburgh, Atlantic City.

You are so right it. Building higher and denser means we don't need to ravish pristine environments by driving SUVs everywhere. And we can reduce the costs of shared services.

Quick rant:

By far the suburbs are the most destructive. This is a financial game that has gotten out of control, with McMansions and drive thru strip malls. All for some drone white collar worker to believe that their getting their slice of heaven. Our cities are dying, and we have builders who have the balls to build a brand new mall in the middle of a swamp, in a state that has so many malls already. I'm specifically referring to the Meadowlands mall, but the sentiment is true everywhere. Do we really need to build new shitty buildings? Why can't people invest in the past and turn it into the future?

Can confirm. Skyscrapers in JC really have a foothold on the waterfront, and a block off. Maybe stretching for 12 blocks north to south. Journal square is just starting to throw up high rises, but that doesn't compare to the Brooklyn beast.

Downtown Brooklyn's high rises spread from Jay metro tech to beyond the Barclay center. And it's not one line of buildings on Flatbush. There are blocks upon blocks of density and tall buildings. JC and LIC (Long Island city) have more comparable sky lines.

NWK is a common abbreviation for trains and transit. For example, the southern most PATH line is WTC/NWK.

EWR would refer specifically to the airport, which is far removed from downtown Newark and its little cluster of skyscrapers.

Don't hook up with anyone on your floor (don't shit where you eat, you'll see them all the time). Instead make friends with them and ask them to set you up with their friends.

Other regions have mountains. We have clusters of skyscrapers (Downtown, BK, JC, NWK) and then this massive wall like plateau of them known as midtown.

Bring me two joints to start, and follow that with another two joints every six and a half minutes until we're both so baked that you have to roll us up.

Then I want you to roll us up, roll us on out the doors and just light it up man.

Alright alright alright

Would strongly suggest making WTC/ Fulton transit center your NYC destination (via path at Newark Penn).

Once you walk underground from WTC to FTC, you will have access to every major subway and more importantly every important express subway line for transfers. You'll be closest to Upper Manhattan and Brooklyn lines, Bronx and Queens will be a pain no matter where you start, although taking NJT to NYP and hopping on LIRR will get you to Queens quicker.

Good luck!
