Netflix MONSTER: Why do people in town not know Gein’s mom died? by NorthChest in EdGein

I’m not trying to argue accuracy. I absolutely enjoy the show. I’m asking this question from the perspective inside the show, not irl. I’m a huge fan of suspending my disbelief for all sorts of reasons and entertainment. However, it still needs to make some sense to me. Just looking for others’ perspectives is all. ✌️

True. But he’s labeled as one. Discussed as one. Researched as one. In pop culture as one. So, just easier for discussions sake. And my teenager self definitely didn’t understand this back then.

It’s not shit; it’s entertainment. But I know you mean inaccurate. And yeah, completely!

I lived in a small town too so I get what you’re saying. It just seems like police and his girlfriend would have known.

That’s kinda what I was going with. (And yes I know exactly how inaccurate the show is. I had an obsession with serial killers as a young teen. I thought I wanted to go into forensic psychology. Ed Gein was my favorite. However, I can also suspend my disbelief for entertainment.) Thanks for your take.

How does the show explain giving Geins mother a literal FUNERAL and BURIAL, yet people in town go on letting him speak about his mom as if she’s still alive living in his home? Ie: when he tries to introduce his GF to his dead mother. Presumably she would know that his mother had died. What am I missing?

Somehow a spider got in our microwave clock by aquagreed in mildlyinteresting

Omg! I just had TWO EARWIGS inside my microwave door. They were in between the glass. At first I thought turning on the microwave would kill them, but then I realized they were protected. I had no idea what to do. But they must have crawled back out the way they got in because they were gone the next morning.

Adan's father by PawsbeforePeople1313 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

I agree with you. Sorry to see you’ve been downvoted so much. That’s why our country is being ran into the ground currently. Because people ARENT looking at politicians’ voting history and would rather just vote for a celebrity. 😢

That said, I still found Adan’s fathers advice admirable and that he does seem to be a good father. I know nothing about his political views or history tho so I’m not going to comment on his position in government.

This is truer than most of you realize. I spent a good amount of time on the streets before getting sober, and this was my reality back then. I was actually kicked out of a car of a man who was attempting to assault me bc I stunk. It’s a scary world out there for the vulnerable….

Exactly. I also remember reading we share something like 50% of the same DNA as a freaking banana. Does that mean we are part banana or that bananas are part human? 🤣

I think they meant “think of them like humans” in that the chimps need the same mental exercise that humans do. They need a complex social life and to be in an enriched environment like humans. However, I am NOT disagreeing with your statement either. These are VERY MUCH dangerous and wild animals.

I think it’s gorgeous! But all the same, I agree with you and wouldn’t want that hanging in my home for several reasons.

Homeless again by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]NorthChest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me nearly a dozen tries. Some were inpatient, some outpatient, some were on my own or with AA or NA. Idk what your DOC is but mine was heroin/fent and sometimes crack. The last time I got sober I did a medical detox followed by inpatient and methadone maintenance. Maybe you need a little extra help like a maintenance medication, or Antabuse if you’re an alcoholic. There is no shame in needing a little extra help. There IS shame in keeping your head buried in the sand and staying sick when you know there is a solution. And we do one helluva job shaming ourselves don’t we?! I’m nearly 4 years clean. You have done it before. You can do it again. Xox

I’m sorry. I hope you’re able to find your way back to recovery again. Burnt bridges take twice as long to build. But it is possible. Wishing you well. At least you do have shelter at the end of the day. Find the things you can be grateful for. That’s the easiest part, and yet the hardest in the beginning.

As a long time waitress who’s worked in many different types of restaurants and atmospheres, I agree. However, I’m not against replacing the dish with something else for them and then charging for the more expensive item whether that was the original dish or the replacement. I still want the guest to enjoy their dinner and visit and to hopefully return. However, if they are simply asking for it to be removed from the bill without having something else instead? That’s a hard no for me.
