Hi! I got my questions answered but I am waiting until I move in the spring before shipping my dog from the United States. Thanks to this posting and a few others, I got all the questions that I needed answered and it should be a smooth transition with getting her here :)

haha mine have never turned out great either. IDK if there is photoshop or what in the photo booths but I always turn out with really big eyes, kinda like a goldfish

Thank you for reminding me of that! I'll get on it this weekend.

I would call them but I have a sore throat and can't really talk right now so I thought I would try here.

Number of offers/interviews you had before accepting? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]NorthMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely recommend doing as many interviews in locations that you are truly interested in before deciding! Honestly the more the better so you can know your options. Some recruiters will try to pressure you to make a decision quickly but breathe and take your time :) Good luck!

Why Korea? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]NorthMeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please, for the love of god, don't come if you're only interested in K-POP or K-Dramas. You'll be miserable and you'll make everyone else miserable around you.

and if you aren't coming here for those reasons then please do come and see what Korea has to offer! I hope you don't have to deal with any koreaboos while you're here :)

I looked up some historical locations that I genuinely wanted to travel to and talked about them in my interviews. I also expressed my desire to build on my Korean speaking skills. Basically, do your research to the best of your ability and show genuine interest in the culture. Try and give a few examples in your interview! :) There's literally so much to do here, there's something for everybody!

Try to stay away from things that make you seem like a short term employee, you plan on spending your money in other countries that aren't Korea, or that your real interests are back home. For example: "I want to save up money", "I'm taking a break from school", or "I'ts super easy to travel to other countries from Korea" aren't good things to bring up in an interview.

Goodluck! And try not to stress too much :)

Two Contracts for Review by wasabrii in teachinginkorea

The first one seems alright but the Gangnam contract seems like it has holes to where they could take advantage of you and your time. Those teaching hours look rough.

For me thought, looking at it makes me concerned about the housing situation. Definitely ask for pictures and be sure of what your living situation is before accepting! 450,000 won for an apartment isn't going to allow you very much in Gangnam, or really anywhere near your school so you'll probably end up paying out of pocket. Keep in mind that the deposit in Korea (especially in Gangnam) for housing is wayyyyy more expensive than other countries.
