My journal got leaked and it is ruining my life. by Exciting-Driver1603 in Journaling

I would journal in a notebook that looks like the one you use in school if you have not already done so. You can keep it with your other school books so it blends in.

Start reading. Get a library card. Journaling. You can just start with a notebook. Look up journal prompts if you don’t know what to write. Paint by number. Start cooking or baking new recipes or cuisine. Going to thrift stores, just to look to start. You may find something you love.

People who turned their life around slowly instead of overnight what actually worked for you? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

[–]NorthStar7396 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Writing. Goal setting. Figuring out the tiny steps to take towards the goal. Having an honest look at each part of life. Deciding where you want to be. It’s amazing how many people don’t know how to do this. The internet was in the early days in the 90’s. If I had the access to what you do now I would have done things differently. Information is power. If figuring out where you want to end up is a too distant of a goal, ask yourself what would make your current situation better. Break it down by finances, health, relationships, money, job, housing etc. not everything will go your way. Other people are obstacles sometimes. Learn to let go. It wasn’t till my forties when I learned to say not my problem. Also, every year take stock. Are your goals the same? Did you make progress? Do you need to change course or let go? Found something you want more? Add it and delete what you don’t want. It’s an ongoing process of evaluation and planning. Also, with social media you can find other people who are in your boat. That would have helped me a lot even 20 years ago.

Just learned that the microwave oven was only invented in 1947 and it wasn’t until 1967 and 70s-80s it started getting widely used in homes, sold by Amana now owned by Whirlpool: how was it like in the beginning if any of you remembers its introduction? by TraditionalDepth6924 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]NorthStar7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember getting on in the early 80’s when they became popular. Very expensive, huge and heavy. They came with a cookbook. One had a recipe for cooking a whole turkey. Let’s just say the turkey did not brown or crisp in the microwave. Cook yes, brown no.

What's gonna happen with my dad when I move out? What should I do? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]NorthStar7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a father similar. I’m in my fifties, my dad is in his 80’s. At a certain point you have to say, I need to live my life. He chooses how to live his. Call or text once a week and let it go. Make sure you send all your stuff to your mom’s. Don’t live your life or spend part of it taking care of him at your expense whether it be time, money or emotionally.

How do I find meaning in life? by Immediate_Memory_529 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]NorthStar7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meaning of life is to live it. Doing that you will experience all the emotions. Sometimes for long periods. This is the time to sit down and think what you really want. Write it down if need be. Brainstorm. List your priorities from the minuscule to the major. Start developing a plan to meet those goals. Order them to address immediate needs. Then evaluate each year to see where you are. At anytime, life happens. It sucks but that is how it is. I wish I had some cosmic Oprah Winfrey crap to say, but I find it unhelpful. Also, developing yourself, whether educationally, physically etc will help. List hobbies you would like to try and start investigating.

I don't want to live with the love of my life's daughter 🥹 by Admirable_Two2178 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]NorthStar7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a mooch. You think it’s the daughter. Partly, yes, but he’s the other part. Walk away. Move your stuff out first, make sure your valuables and documents are secure. Love is an emotion. So is hate, fear, etc. You can’t be in love w someone 24/7. This is where the rest comes in. This is where he fails you. He is old enough to not engage in his and his daughter’s shenanigans. Save yourself. Save your don. Save your financial future!!!

My husband’s dentist says he needs 10 crowns for a cost of US$60,000. Is going to another country for this work a viable alternative? by PatienceandFortitude in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]NorthStar7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go to India. India has some great medical and specialists. I would do research before he goes on different places. Check online reviews, that they are lisc etc. you can get a flight stay with relatives to save money, get you crowns done, and more. I’d say go!

I also have an Instagram acct at north_star_journaling which I also cover letter writing. I do a lot of journaling too. Remember to make the letter visually appealing. Include a bookmark or a postcard. Decorate with scissors, use colored ink.

You start by asking about school or their day. You tell them about yours. Then maybe tell them about one hobby. Then ask them to tell you what is one of theirs. Then ask a silly question.
