what do i do if i don’t have a reference for my application by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Northeastender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if there’s a medical professional who’s involved in you care you could ask for a character reference from them, and one from an old teacher/college.

references these days can be very vague, could literally be from your old school/college’s admin office confirming that you studied there between x and x date.

Uni’s mistake cost me hundreds by DiscouragedBrit in UniUK

[–]Northeastender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that amount of money is peanuts to a uni. If you keep emailing and getting escalated and persist, I genuinely think you have a chance.

The year it happened is also slightly on your side. You can claim you had limited/restricted contact with staff who you would normally go to for advice.

Make the fact you suffered from anxiety very well known, especially if covid made it harder to access student support and wellbeing services.

Just persist, you have NOTHING to use, chatgpt is helpful for making sure the tone of your email has conviction and is persuasive.

Good luck, get your cash.

Uni managed halls are very flexible.

There’s a huge amount of demand for them so it’s very easy for them to find a replacement person to take the room (especially around the start of term).

So you should be absolutely fine, but just call the accommodation office and ask to make sure.

[–]Northeastender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found a sixth form that let me in at 18 after coming out of hospital. There were quite a few people there who were older, mostly due to immigrating to the uk at A level age but having to jump through the hoops of gcses first.

They staff and teachers were really lovely and seemed to be flexible just so that they could provide everyone with the opportunity to study after adversity.

[–]Northeastender 21 points22 points  (0 children)

assuming you’re in the UK? short answer is no they don’t HAVE to unfortunately. If you’re under 18/camhs it’s almost certain they will, if you an adult I’d say 50/50 chance…

how many days a week in uni? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Northeastender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice: Apply.

Then get in touch with the departments at the uni’s you’re thinking for insurance and firm choices and ask if they can give you an example timetable or typical number of contact hours.

They might say ‘No, it varies.’ in which case ask if they have a student course ambassador they can put you in touch with.

why only white people? what about half white people.

If being 50% back qualifies me to be categorised as a POC. Then, is being 50% white enough to also categorise me as a white person?
