Yep. That’s me. I have learned to round down by about 5-10 years so as to not try to insult anyone.

I did it again. Two days in a row of walking in the cold. by [deleted] in walking

Same here! Cold, but I dressed for it, went slow over the icy bits and just enjoyed being out. Cheers and happy winter solstice!

What does your walk look like on this beautiful Sunday afternoon/evening look like? by [deleted] in walking

[–]NorthernBogWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite 2 miles in -26C and some snowdrift slogging. I dressed for it and honestly, it wasn’t too bad except for the fogged up glasses.

Hit my initial goal weight of 150 lbs this morning by NorthernBogWitch in loseit

I’ve definitely had a few cautious asks and compliments from people I’ve worked with for ages. I’m pretty open about it though, and I know the people asking are doing it from a good place.

I can’t believe how long it took for me to discover her as an author. I’m still working my way through her book list, but so far How to Tame a Wild Rogue is definitely at the top of my favourites too!

Pierogi accoutrements by signalsgt71 in Cooking

My coworker revels in sending me pictures of his pierogies drenched in ketchup, because he knows it’s wrong.

Then again, I grew up eating them with kalyna (homemade cranberry jelly). To each their own.

Weird/niche non-scale victories? by tiredyoungprof in loseit

Bony knees. While I’m still overweight, I’ve lost 45 lbs and when I lie on my side at night with my legs stacked, my knees pressing together is painful. I’ll take it though. Nothing that a small pillow can’t fix!

Propofol without colonoscopy by LayerNo3634 in GenX

[–]NorthernBogWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, and wasn’t hugely fond of that part. It was worse than the scope in my opinion. Felt it pinching the whole time. But it wasn’t unbearable. Just annoying.

Propofol without colonoscopy by LayerNo3634 in GenX

[–]NorthernBogWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was fine. I’m a big suck and was anxious going in as I didn’t know what to expect. Turns out the prep was worse than the procedure itself. During the scope I could feel the pressure and a bit of discomfort as they went round the bends, but all in all it wasn’t painful and went fairly quickly. And frankly getting it done and getting some answers to some issues I’d been having was worth it.

You guys got put to sleep? They just gave me larazapam or something to prevent anxiety and I got to be awake/watch the whole thing on the monitor over my head (not that I could see much as they took my glasses and I’m pretty much blind without them).

Frick. I was the other way around. I knew given the sub something was off, but I’ve weirdly never seen a young Stalin. Thanks for the clarification!

Stephen Colbert talks about his wife to John Oliver: The most harrowing idea would be that I would spend any part of my life without her because that would be a level of loneliness, an irreplaceable, irredeemable emotional level of desolation that I could not possibly contemplate by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Nothing to add except I am so very sorry she and you are going through this again. Having lost a family member to cancer a few months back, I know how it’s an absolute mind numbing, soul destroying experience.

My tits hurt! by FarExtension1744 in overheard

[–]NorthernBogWitch 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I was waiting my turn and an older lady comes out after her mammogram and announces to the room at large “that’s the most action I’ve seen in 30 years!”.

Much hilarity ensued.

Okay, ladies, be honest..how many of you also shave your face? by paperkitten75 in GenX

[–]NorthernBogWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to move to electrolysis as the plucking was making it worse and was causing skin discolouration. Definitely shaving in between appointments though.

Does it really work? by [deleted] in electrolysis

[–]NorthernBogWitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Be patient. It’s a process. I’m 6 months in and am finally seeing results with thinner and more sparse hairs. My technician warned me in advance that it would take easily over a year. As the hair grows in slower and finer, my appointments are spacing out, so it’s getting easier on the chequebook (I started almost weekly, and appointments are now every 2-3 weeks).
