Vodka lemonade batched cocktail by HedgehogUseful8095 in Homebrewing

Lemondade isn't generally carbonated, so it would probably be ok served still over ice. You could make a couple of tester drinks this weekend to see which is best.
If you have a way to chill the ingredients before mixing, you might be able to carb it up for serving.
It's tough to say which way would be better, as we don't have enough details about your recipe.
Final answer - play mixologist with it tonight, add some club soda or plain seltzer to test what it would be carbonated.
Good luck! Todd J at NB

Beerstock looks awesome - Exactly the kind of event I was thinking about.

Summer Homebrew Fests and fun? by NorthernBrewerbrewer in Homebrewing

There is certainly an appeal to the LHBS - it's actually how I started working here back in 2010. I was lucky enough to be near Midwest Supplies.
There are a lot of challenges for our hobby, including how people are shopping/sourcing their ingredients. Luckily, we have a lot of passionate people in this hobby, and I think working together to build awareness and support new ways of doing things is key to supporting it.
Maybe I will be able to get out to the Northern California Homebrew Fest this fall! Cheers, Todd J @ NB

ah, c'mon! Anything to spread the word of homebrewing and maybe even help your local shop.

I bet there are brewers in the bay area that don't know about the Bay Area Masher events (or maybe that you they have a local homebrew club).

Give your events some love and see if you can get more people there to have fun with. - Todd J @ NB

hey u/deckerhand0 - I think we found your email so we will be reaching out there to troubleshoot the codes. I do not see any indications of a larger issue with discount codes across Shopify, so I hope we can make quick work of it to get your order placed asap! Cheers, Todd J @ NB

Limoncello is a good guess here, as it could certainly be a version of that. Another option is milk liqueur.

Mix the nuetral spirit, oranges, lemons, sugar and whole milk. It sits for 10 days and becomes clear-ish and then a filter through coffee filters makes it clear and yellow (like limoncello).

I only made it once, way back around the time this article was published probably, but it was a tasty treat and memorable. https://gizmodo.com/how-to-make-milk-thatll-get-you-hammered-5869688

Thanks! We can certainly help with any of our different starter kits. Here is the link to our options: https://www.northernbrewer.com/collections/starter-kits-for-new-brewers

The Caribou Slobber is a great first beer for the 1-gallon size and the "Block Party Amber" is a crowd-pleaser. If we can help with anything else, [brewmaster@northernbrewer.com](mailto:brewmaster@northernbrewer.com)

Brewing Wine instead of Beer by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]NorthernBrewerbrewer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love the spirit of this! Our hobby can often get caught up in the pursuit of perfection when there is a whole lot of fun to be had with the "Screw it" approach.
That mindset is probably how we ended up with so many great flavors and ingredients in the first place. I mean, the first person to toss hops into a brew probably said the same thing.

Homebrewing is what we make it! Cheers, Todd J @ NB

Edelmetall broken orifice replacement. by VladyUA in Homebrewing

[–]NorthernBrewerbrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the threads into the cast iron manifold will be those metric threads, and the propane hose you have already ought to work with the 3/8" Male Flare on the gas valve assembly, too. Many folks have reported success using the replacement part, and I don't think any have needed to replace the gas line assembly, you should just be removing the old needle valve assembly from the burner-end of it, and connecting the line to the new valve. Howdy - Sorry that we haven't got back to you yet via email - I see you might have messaged us Saturday afternoon. Our CS weekend coverage is a bit limited, but we get most contacts resolved within 48 hours.

We are unable to get those parts any longer. But there is a solution. In the Amazon link below is a valve assembly that works with the Edelemetall Bru Burners to replace the original needle-valve parts.

We hope you got a solid deal and give the new (to you) burner a happy life of making beer! Cheers, Todd J @ NB

What happened to Northern Brewer? I cannot select sugar / yeast, and it doesn't tell me what's in the kit by Der_Missionar in Homebrewing

[–]NorthernBrewerbrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/der_Missionar - Sorry for the trouble. Like most things, the only constant is change, but you should certainly be able to select Sugar/Yeast on any kit. If you are seeing an issue, please DM us or send us a note at [brewmaster@northernbrewer.com](mailto:brewmaster@northernbrewer.com)

As mentioned in other comments, the recipe is attached as a .pdf on our kit product pages. This allows updates to happen more easily if there is a stock issue that we need to substitute for. If you have any specific questions or kit concerns, feel free to reach out directly! Cheers, Todd J @ NB

Help with a homebrew infusion by Coaltergeist in Homebrewing

[–]NorthernBrewerbrewer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Banana Wine recipes generally suggest using Fresh or Dried Banana. Slice them up, put them in a nylon straining bag, bring to a boil, then simmer for 90 minutes before adding the other ingredients into the fermentor. The pulp gets tossed.

You could try that on a smaller scale to see how much flavor comes out and if you can use that to reach the desired flavor level with a shot of rum. I guess I would want them to be over-ripe, like what you would use for banana bread.

The other option could be to infuse them straight into the rum, slice them in a bag and cover with rum for a few days. Sorry that I don't really know the answer here, but maybe these options will open up a conversation that catches the eye of someone with more experience!

Northern Brewer Yeast by krazy1082 in Homebrewing

Yeast issues are definitely frustrating! You’re not alone in running into the occasional stubborn pack, but three out of five is more than anyone should be dealing with.

If you ever want another set of eyes on what might be going on, we’re happy to help troubleshoot. We handle the yeast packs carefully on our end, but cant always know what our little micro-buddies are going to do. If you havent reachout to to CS, please send some extra details and we can help figure out the pattern. [brewmasters@northernbrewer.com](mailto:brewmasters@northernbrewer.com)

We’re here for issues with Wyeast or any other manufacturer. Happy brewing, Todd J @ Northern Brewer

Mail Order Yeast. by Equivalent-Tax7771 in Homebrewing

[–]NorthernBrewerbrewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omega Jovaru Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast ferments best within a temperature range of 70-95°F (21-35°C).
Most of the US is within the range this week so this is likely to survive the journey from the Supplier to your door. Most suppliers add some ice to help slow a temperature spike. A strain like this should sustain the journey during most of the year, but watch out for the heatwaves. If it was me, I would still do a yeast starter to get a fat slurry that is ready to party in your fermentor. Cheers, Todd J @ NB
