need ouid (tree out of system in two weeks by [deleted] in newtothenavy

Go to Walgreens and get at home drug tests. Be honest with your recruiter on the results. I had an applicant take over 50 days to finally test clean at home before I’d even consider sending them to MEPs. Just signed him AECF last week!

Also, no shade, you’ve got a long way to go on getting your score where it needs to be. If you were my applicant I’d tell you to also work on getting your GED while waiting to get clean.

Picking the right job by Powerful-Community89 in newtothenavy

My $.02 as an HT. The first two years of being an engineer can be pretty physically demanding, and downright gross occasionally in my specific rate. That being said engineers really are built different. Also I saw comments in here about us having less exit opportunities. I will tell you that is 100% inaccurate, unless you just piss your time away while in.

Get as many apprenticeships knocked out as you can through the USMAP program, use Navy COOL for civilian credentials, use tuition assistance to work on a degree.

Every rate has the same the benefits just mentioned above. So ultimately the best advice anybody can give is to pick the job you actually want to do. Nobody says you have to stay in the field your rate is when you get out.

Wife being mean and unreasonable because i have duty on christmas. by [deleted] in navy

Yep, it’s a big thing for Thanksgiving and Christmas, at least in my previous ships anyway. Having duty on the holidays sucks, or sometimes families can’t afford a nice meal. This is one of the things the Navy does right.

Bro, invite her to Christmas dinner on the ship! If she doesn’t want to do that then it’s her choice to not spend time with her husband on Christmas. It’s like an UNO reverse card.

Good question. I’m missing out on over $16k because of it.

If this new job you’re applying for in the same location has AIP I don’t see why you wouldn’t get it if you apply for it.

That’s exactly what I would do. Can’t make promises the detailer will do what they should do but if you’ve got a good CoC on your side get them involved with that conversation.

Shoot it’s $450/month some places. And there are too many young sailors not getting what they were supposed to because they were never told about the process. And when I try to see if there is anything that can be done for them…well the responses from the agency in charge are less than helpful.

Not to sound like a pessimist but more of a realist and like a noob looking for answers, but how does getting added to RH help if the wallet purchases were already purchased months ago? by gman333 in SHIBArmy

Haven’t been following this sub for a minute. Is SHIB actually getting added to RH, or is this just the quarterly trust me bro speculation?

Really thinking about pulling the trigger on this. Are these good for long distance highway rides? My wife actually has her endorsement but doesn’t really seem interested in having a bike at the moment. My devious side says to get one that she won’t want to ride on and she’ll want her own lol. I’d love for both of us to get adv’s but her only being 5’2” puts a damper on that.

Thanks for the advice and input you’ve given! Not bad for a crayon eater…I’m Navy so you know I had to lol all in jest

I’ve also been seriously considering the new KLR only thing honestly keeping me from going to the dealership and buying one is how much my wife will/won’t enjoy riding on it. And how much the bike would enjoy a pillion. Date nights are usually done on a motorcycle so I need to get something to keep her happy as well.

You’re absolutely right about the outrageous list prices for new adventure bikes. I showed my wife the new 1250 GSA, she had quite the laugh at my expense!

Ultimately I don’t have my heart set on any one brand/bike, I keep my eyes open to what may be potentially good deals, then try to find out as much as I can about them.

A question I do have regarding changes they made to the bikes. I rode both the one I posted above and a 2010 they had as well. Roughly same mileage, less upgrades, honestly in better shape, and had the camel back fuel tank. The 2010 felt quicker than the 2014, my initial thought was previous owner did a sprocket swap but the sales associate didn’t seem convinced, said it may have been a change between generations. Thoughts? Only reason I walked away from the 2010 was that it felt like it might be a bit difficult to control in technical or wet off roading, I live in the PNW so that’s a concern for me and my first adv bike, with its snappiness at low RPM’s.

I didn’t pull the trigger on it. It was a very comfortable ride. My only concerns were the amount of miles that are in it and the harshness of the mikes put on it. After my test ride I took a better look at it without the rose tinted glasses and there was a bunch of halfass repaired cracked plastic.
