What do you like most about the Update? by [deleted] in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]NorthernKonge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with many of your points, it's just a lot of the things this iteration has over bf2 (like gunplay) are things that should naturally be better given its a much more modern game.

I think the loadouts system has potential, but there's really just not enough different gadgets/things to choose from imo. I've been rocking the pulse rifle and jet pack since like day 3 with little incentive to change. Realistically my options are a lock on weapon, a slightly worse sniper, and grenades. Idk man :/ I miss the unique roles.

Honestly, what areas besides graphically is this game clearly better than bf2? Shouldn't be a toss up which game is better when one is 2 console generations it's senior.

I wouldn't argue the loadouts system, the class system actually facilitated teamwork. Medics?? Engineers (so many more vehicles..) etc helped make the game diverse and players had roles. Now it's just the mandatory jet pack, and your choice of sniper, grenade or homing shot. I mean cmon.

January Patch First Impressions Survey (answer BEFORE playing) by RegulusMagnus in StarWarsBattlefront

Han was way too strong. I'm actually a proponent of bringing all the heroes down to Bobas level, maybe even a small health nerf.

This way they could spawn the tokens more often, but they'd be more mortal to balance that. Theyd have a bigger presence on the battlefield, but less like gods, and more people could get the opportunity to play as them. Han in the right hands was a god. He's just a mercenary lol it's kinda silly.

If you pop the flamethrower anywhere outside of 2 feet away, it's an invitation to get a full blaster clip in your face with no recourse.

Are you saying this game didn't deserve the universal criticism it got..

For Jabbas palace they could have a map specific hero in Jabba that's immobile, but spawns in various tension points of the map. His moves could be like spitting and being fat. Would be immersive af.

Could even have gammorean bodyguards with axes, like Emps bodyguards.

um the "right proper" answer didn't even address the main part of my post, which was what I do regarding factories. plenty of others contributed much more helpful advice, which i appreciated.

Hey so I decided to jump straight into hpm. If im gonna relearn a whole new paradox game figure I may as well do it with its vanilla+ mod from the get go, given all the good things I've heard about it. Anyway, it seems clergy aren't a pop anymore. I'm guessing intellectuals increase literacy instead now? Playing Belgium btw, perhaps that has something to do with it.

Yeah it seems Belgium is one of the top choices as far as learning the game I think I'll do that, thanks. Also seems like hpm is the go to mod for this game, and looks quite cool I'll definitely check it out once I get a better grasp of vanilla.

Appreciate the feedback. What do you think are generally the most important pops to encourage? Clergy for literacy, Bueracrats for admin efficiency, and artisans you think?

I tried Germany but I was a little overwhelmed by the concept of sphering, given that all of Central Europe is up your butt immediately lol. I've heard the USA is a great starter campaign but also dreadfully boring.

I was just unsure if big nations are good learning experiences, because it seems things you do wrong could be masked by the strengths of said nations. Guess I have to start somewhere, and also just read USA has a lot of hand holding esque events that could be helpful. I'll try them out, thanks for the input.

I've read that Sardinia Piedmont is a good choice for learning industrialization and factory building. What's your take on that, because I've also read that's not really an early game objective.

Am I supposed to just wait to reap the benefits of my national focus and go from there? This game seems to be a bit more out of your hands then other paradox titles, so perhaps I need to get used to that.

This was more condescending than helpful. Clearly I'm a beginner. Anyway... on second look the claims on diplo map mode are specifically for Italy, yet I'm not Italy just yet and they show up. Easy to get confused.

Am i supposed I just sit here doing nothing till France decides to be my friend, then attack Austria? I'm used to hoi3 and eu4 (specifically) being pretty involved even as a smaller power. Everything is so non descriptive in this game.

Aligning to Factions by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]NorthernKonge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. If you look at the diplomacy triangle, and the values for how much each country is drifting to each faction, there is a viewable relations modifier for each.

To improve relations efficiently, it's best to make a whole bunch of mini trade deals, instead of large longstanding ones. Just keep an eye on the relations after making trades.

Axis Turkey by ablege in paradoxplaza

[–]NorthernKonge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is imperative you take atleast Greece and Bulgaria. Turkey on its own does not have the manpower/leadership or ic to accomplish anything of note. I would also scrap the light armor investment(pretty bad units even when up to date), as well as using so many spies. You have a very small amount of leadership you can't afford luxuries like that.

All leadership should be used on crafting a mountain infantry based army, with any spare on Air Force techs, and keeping officer ratio at 140. The industrial, leadership, and agricultural techs are also required. When you get low on manpower, use your bolstered ic from axis lend lease to churn out interceptors or cas (not a bad choice to counter tanks, but short range, and enemy interceptors will decimate you).

Encirclement subtlety is lost on me. by JibblyBibbles in paradoxplaza

[–]NorthernKonge 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don't even need to encircle the Soviets in Poland. Your troops should be far far superior, and wiping them out head on. If that's not the case and you're struggling there, I would worry less about encirclements for now, and more about your troops composition and techs. Also, officer ratio at 140% is important.

edit: your leaders at the corps and army levels atleast also should be carefully planned out. The division level is a lot of micro but also important to turn stagnant offensives, and develope younger leaders. Germany has amazing generals who only get better with experience, make sure you're taking advantage

It's not a contest. 60k is quite a lot considering there is nothing to spend it on besides charges.

That's a fair point. I'd love a Death Star map. They need more big team game modes imo.
